Salvaged a nice teak and alloy steering wheel of a classic car - which I will make fit to the hydraulic unit somehow.

I looks like the construction might be done, but it sure isn't finished  ?

I love re-purposing pretty things.  I bet it looks nice.

I haven't posted an update for a while..

A custom made fly rod rod rack and fairing well underway.

Not sure what to do with the floor finish.

I had my heart set on teak however not sure about all that extra weight..

Maybe cork?

We used a product for the flooring on Sheila B that has proved to be very satisfactory. It is a combination of cork and rubber with a raised button. It comes in sheets so it needs joining but was quite easy to lay out and cut in. It is great on bare feet and fish blood and beer wash off with no stains or issues. Used epoxy to glue it down with good results but care needs to be taken with clean up as you don't get to see the drips and spill until they yellow. Doing it again I would wash down with white vinegar thoroughly after laying. I used it on the platform as well as the floor. You can pick up the button effect if you look closely at the image. Let me know if you want more info and I can look up the product. It is from Melbourne I think from memory.

Just looked it up - brand is Comcork Aquadeck.

Thanks for the suggestion and review.

I have never heard of the product, I'll definitely consider it if the price is ok.

By the way, your boat turned out really nice!

@lenm this looks great and you can't beat the custom rod rack! While I've never used cork for flooring, I'm partial to teak. It just looks so damn good. I've been considering something like this for my small floor - https://www.flexiteek.com/flexiteek-2g/

The teak does look rather good!

Best of all it eliminates the need to longboard/sand the deck, just glue the planks down..

Edging closer to completion with final fairing about 95% done.

Off to the painters soon as I don't want to spray toxic products outside the bedroom window.

After covering up all of the wood with fibreglass and filler, it will be nice to bring some of the look back - in the form of a teak deck.  To minimise weight, we are going with 7mm rebated planks epoxyied to the deck.

Front decks will be a simple non skid finish to save weight.

I ruled out using cork as I was quoted prices close to teak.

@lenm the teak floor and covering boards look great. Hope you plan on keeping them this honey color for years to come.

Today the boat left the confines of it's shed for good - being off to the spray painter for final finish.

The transition from jig to trailer presented some challenges but we landed her safely in the end.

It was nice to see it out in the open - something I have been dreaming of for the last few years.

Man, that's a cool boat.  It looks really fast, too.

Thanks HighDesert!

Graham's design sure looks sweet in the flesh.

Given this project thread is almost at an end, I'd sincerly like to thank Graham, Alan and all the forum members who have helped me out with opinions and advise throughout the project. It sure helped.

Nice looking boat Lenm !

Almost time for rigging .

Have you decided about what HP ?

Thanks Lotus!

Re HP, the Australian way is to overpower everything ?

I have ordered the smallest engine which has digital speed control (DEC) being the 150hp Yamaha.

There is a shortage of new motors over here at the moment (have been waiting since August for it to arrive from Japan).

I'm not too hopeful it will be arrive/be installed before xmas, so probably a mid January launch.

I hope your boat has been good?
