Guest Capt. Len Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 I have a project boat available to a enthusiastic party History: Back in 1980's we started tooling on a Trikini 7.93 meter swing wing trimaran. built the plug main hull mold and one part. Were working on the deck plug on the part when a lot happened. shop shut down, moved, changed goals and the project died. Later I looked at the part, and a set of Trikini 6.47 OR's Swing wings and spar/rigging/sails and decided to do a one off. The main was shortened to 23 ft. The result sailed OK but was not what I wanted, so it was sold. The owner used im NJ for many years and along the way made a series of poor modifications. He moved the mast fwd which threw the balance off. So he added a lee board and closed the Daggerboard case, then the rudder was too small. Eventually he sold it to a party in MI. That party contacted me. He restored boats for a part time business and wanted to bring it back to where I had it and change it to a 2 berth mini cruiser. We did some sketches and while the interest was there, he just never started. He used it for awhile liked it but wanted a bigger cruiser for lake michigan so it sat in an apple orchard. About 24 months ago I heard of one of the original Trikini 13's (#22) for sale and bought it. He picked up and stored for me. Last November, He decided to sell out and relocate. What couldn't be sold he was going to scrap, so he said if I wanted it, could come and get it. So Thanksgiving week did a 3 day round trip (1400 miles each way) and brought back. along with the 13. I have restored the 13 and stared at the 23 for the last year. My idea was to restore it as a big day sailor sort of a mini version of the Trikini D. But I just have too much on my plate. Not only the restoring the 13, but developing a DIY tape and stitch version which I want to prototype. I also Have the Trikini 32 feet Power Trimaran that is an ongoing project. Simply put the Trikini 23 is at the bottom of the list of things to do if ever to be done. So if anyone would like to take on the project, I'll make you a good deal and offer you whatever support I can come up with the original drawings, consulting and ideas. The boat is shown in the http://www.trikini.com web site. It's on a good trailer. The boat is titled and boat and trailer are registered. located in SW FL Contact me directly -- Capt.
