Spindrift Guwales

For the spindrift 10n on the keel/gunwales sheet, dated 2-22-04 GB says: "Tapering 1/8" keeps the gunwales looking heavy in the ends. Can someone clarify what this means?

So not the over all thickness of the gunwale as measured from the hull outward, but the size measured vertically?

You could actually thin it a bit both ways.

Don't know if the plans mention it, but you should bevel the bottom edge of the gunwale at about 15 deg. Looks less bulky, and it also keeps the gunwale from hooking as easily on the edge of a dock, or ???.

Yes, that is mentioned. the plans specifiy 17 degrees. Thanks for the help.
