Scott Dunsworth Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 A friend of mine is going to join me on a overnight sail on the Ohio River Thursday and Friday. There is suppose to be 15 to 20 mph winds with gusts of 30 to 35 so it should be an interesting couple of days. I am going to get some sailing video and see if the wife can post it on YouTube. We have never have done that before so we'll see. Scott Quote
hokeyhydro Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Sailing in February - brrrr... Well, it is above 60 today on the Carolina coast, and should be near 70 tomorrow, but the water is still bone chilling cold. Not sure about the Ohio River conditions. Dress warm! Stay dry! Quote

Kyle H. Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Hey Scott, were you able to go sailing? Hope you had a good time and took videos/pictures! Kyle #44 Quote
Scott Dunsworth Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 Kyle it was a good time. Winds were very strong gusting to 45. We didn't sail at all on Thursday we just motored to a sheltered area behind Anderson island for the night. Had to cook steaks in the cabin because the wind kept blowing the grill out. So we had a bit of rum along with a good meal. Friday was mostly cloudy with less wind. We sailed with a double reef in the main and a single in the mizzen. We were doing 5 to 8 mph on a beam reach. Now the bad news I got the video camera out to do some filming and soon discovered the memory card was not in the camera. So maybe next time. Scott Kyle I do have some video on tape from 2006 that my wife may be able to put on a cd, I'll ask her. Quote
Kyle H. Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Hey Scott ~ I'm glad that you were able to get out and sail a bit. Bummer about the memory card; seems that my mind loses it's memory card some days, too. I would love to see any footage of sailing that you have. What type of stove do you have? I will need to start saving for all of those little niceties! Kyle #44 Quote
