Charlie Jones Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Looks like a very nice boat- congratulations on the build. So what's the next boat gonna be? We all know ya can't build just ONE ;D ;D Quote
DISTELTK Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 8) I built a Birder II plan number 58. My kayak was painted except for the for and aft decks. My workmanship is not condusive to bright finish. Beautiful work. I had made several small dinghys prior to the Birder. I had many concerns about the bending of expensive plywood. The others were made of home improvement co lauan. I have since buiilt a BRS 15. Again beautiful boat. Tom D. Quote
Hirilonde Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Very nice! And it seems you caught the bug too. Where in RI are you from? Quote
Steve Day Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Mark, Very nice work. It is really nice to be able to go out in a boat that you built! ;D I had thought about the Birder, but finally decided on the Diva2. Have fun with her! Steve Quote
mwschraer Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 Thank you, to all for your appreciation. I find it amazing the looks that I'm getting from passersby. People are genuinely interested in the art of boatmaking Quote
Hirilonde Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 LOL, not that RI is big enough not to recognize any town you could have lived in, but I grew up in East Greenwich, lived in Matunuck (South Kingstown) for a few years while saving up to buy land and build my house in Charlestown. Rod Thompson Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Being a life-long paddler I find that nothing sets off a shiny new vehicle better than a sleek canoe or kayak perched on the roof. Your wooden creation is the perfect accessory. Where in Tennessee would one take a "Damn Yankee"? I visit my son in the region and am always on the lookout for interesting places to dip a paddle in quiet waters. Quote
mwschraer Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 We paddled in Old Hickory Lake in two different areas, went about 5 or 6 miles over two days. Then did a 7 mile on the Harpeth River (not enough water this time of year). Quote
