Frank Hagan
One of our eagle eyed members noted that the service providing image hosting for us ... PostImage.org ... had porn links inserted on top of the images when you clicked the thumbnail to see the larger image. I have disabled the service for now. You can still add images directly to the messing-about.com server by clicking the "Additional Options" link below the editing box when entering a message (use the "Browse" button to find the image on your disk). Its not as convenient, and I'll restore the other option once I hear from PostImage.org (I suspect they have been hacked!)
Greg Luckett
Darn, I miss all the neat stuff......... : Frank, thank you for dealing with this problem. I wonder how long it has been happening? ( not that I need to know, just curious). ???
Frank Hagan
It looks like it affected just three images from two different posters. All the others I checked have been fine. I've asked the company that hosts the pictures about it, so hopefully they will get back to me when the problem is fixed. I liked the service overall. Hirilonde
I actively participate in 2 boat related forums and one Tolkien mythology related. I really like the people in all 3 but one of the primary reasons I continue in them is the relentless nature of the administrators. Thanks again Frank. Guest ib1boatnut
Hello Frank I read this then quickly checked my posts one old post contains a banner that certainly should not be there. Is something wrong with one of my computers? I use nortons and the computers are behind a router. One vista and one xp. If you need my static ip addresses just let me know. The only trouble I have had was vista telling me mail was not being sent when it was. I don't receive spam but my email was blocked by the BYYB. I apologize to all if this is my fault in anyway. I can not delete the pic If you can please do so. Any other way I can help please let me know. I will delete my account if I can not help any futher. My home is not the sort that tolerates such behaviors, and I am ill that my post contains this. once again my deepest apologizes to all that use this great forum. Frank Hagan
I don't think its anything you've done, so no apologies necessary ... its part of the world we live in. Let me know which post it is and I'll disable the image link.

Guest ib1boatnut
I formatted the family computer after finding my 15 year old has been saving attachments to disk from a hotmail account she was not permitted to have. (nothing bad but who knows what could be hidden in there) I cant say if that was the cause but better safe then sorry as that computer was used to post the image. ??? :-[ I will post my pics on picasa when I get new ones. Thanks for all the help, ideas and inspiration!
Frank Hagan
I formatted the family computer after finding my 15 year old has been saving attachments to disk from a hotmail account she was not permitted to have. (nothing bad but who knows what could be hidden in there) I cant say if that was the cause but better safe then sorry as that computer was used to post the image. ??? :-[ I will post my pics on picasa when I get new ones. Thanks for all the help, ideas and inspiration! I don't think it was from you ... it was a link at the top of the page on the ImagePost.org site, and you don't have the ability to put that on the page when you post a picture. And it was on at least one other poster's images as well. But even if it was from your computer, this stuff happens these days, and I'm always thankful when people catch it and point it out to me. Because we caught it, there was no harm, no foul. What's interesting is that the folks at ImagePost.org have never even responded to me. I'm wondering if they are the ones doing it, to generate revenue for the "free" picture posting?
Frank Hagan
I did add a few features that I hope make up for the "easy picture posting" we had to disable. Where ever your cursor is, you can now click the "Insert Attachment" link to insert the image in the text (instead of just down below the posts.) My grandson thinks that's just dandy:
