philmackey
Hi all I'm a first time visitor, I live in east gippsland, victoria, australia 10 mins from gippsland lakes and river systems - after 12months of looking and crewing I'm looking seriously at building a p22 - while looking at the forum I seem to remember someone or maybe it was Graham talking about bring the cabin back to the rear tabanacle which I would like this will shorten cockpit area so I'm think to move small outboard to transom which will give more steering in shallow water - I agree that the yacht looks better with the outboard positioned inboard - but more space in cabin and cockpit would be great - I'll have have looked at the p22 plans on the net but cannot see extended cabin - ARE THESE PLANS OR OTHER VERSIONS OF THE P22 AVAILABLE - I'd like to order plans soon BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT IS AVAILBLE - PERHAPS GRAHAM CAN HELP KINDEST REGARDS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS EXCELLENT FORUM PHILLIP MACKEY
Greg Luckett
This is definitely a question for the Designer (Graham). Maybe you should also email him directly with this?
Oyster
I cannot invision with added space to the cabin what you would gain over the existing layout and size thats on the original plans. You still need to have space for setting your centerboard which is outside the cabin and be able to use the hull in shallow conditions which also needs to be reached at a moments notice in shallow water conditions. Of course in some areas this may not be an issue either. The interior as drawn from witnessing the boat first hand is really large. Remember also you have the second mast too which is located just aft of the existing cabin now. You still need to have some room to enter the boat cabin, too. I guess you could offset the entrance way, loosing some inside that you are attempting to gain. Just a few idle thoughts....
