Denis Goyette
I thought Bondo and sanding was not fun :? Fiberglass is worst :? Here is my question. I watched the movie and red the plan "kind off" . Is the part between the top and lower rubrail fiberglassed? I am moving in less then 30 days ,I had to kick it up a notch. Lots of late night, to have the boat painted before moving date. I will not have a garage where I am going Thanks
MikeStevenson
We skipped the glass between the rubrails on our boats, but it's probably not a bad idea to do if you really want to keep the finish in good shape. Oddly, the ply seems to stand up pretty well in between there. Maybe I just have never looked too hard at it... Mike
Dave R1
I only glassed to the bottom of the lower rubrails. The space in between rails has some epoxy but is mainly painted. No checks after about 5 years. I do keep the boat covered when it is on the trailer and the cover comes down over that area so it is protected from the sun most of the time. Denis Goyette
I only glassed to the bottom of the lower rubrails Do you mean you did not glass the above the rubrails at all? ie: the cockpit and seats.
Dave R1
Well, actually I did glass the cabin sides and cabin bulkhead because they are 1/4" fir and 1/2" fir ply respectively. The deck and cabin roof are 3/8" lauan plywood and because the lauan doesn't seem to check like fir, I didn't glass those surfaces.
