adla
it has been an exhausting day --- lots of thunderstorms here and 4th of july hoopla... Finally - i took my dad sailing! we had to wait out some lightning this morning but I was counting on a decent early am and afternoon. We sailed from Echo Bay to the Arizona side of the lake and anchored for lunch. I was going to fish but found that I was just too pooped. I had the pole out and just threw in the towel. --- We sailed back with the wind nearly behind us (broad reach) ....and my poor dad thought we weren't moving at all - (we were going nearly 3mp on the gps- i think that is plenty fast --i am a chilled out mellow chick) ..... we had a lot of fun. MY KEEL - did not have fun. She developed a nice crack near the deadwood. the plastic resin glue did not hold up....oh well - nothin' like werkin on the boat, eh! here is the LINK: http://adlacearl.com/morg_dad.html a. capt jake
Now that is a nice photo album! Glad to see that you finally gave in and let out the reef! Looks like he had a great time; good on you!

Ken_StJohn
Looks like a great day regardless! Your dad looks like he was having a great time. Interesting note on the deadwood crack. Mine lifted too as you may recall our expoxy conversations. I did fill it full between both keel/deadwood seams and epoxy is now is the main bond. I guess it worked out for the best in light of your experience. Thanks for sharing!
adla
Thanks - i did finally let the reef out but i was so thrilled with the first reef point that i kept saying "look at us move with one reef in"...and "isn't this great - we are still moving pretty well with one reef in"...etc. If it were up to my dad we would have been heeled over with the foot loose and screaming along (no thanks)... He had a good time...i'm glad we waited the storms out, most of the day was sunny and breezy. a.
Pipefitter
I bet your dad is pretty proud/amazed at your achievements. Great pics
