Scott Dunsworth
I just glassed the centerboard with 20 oz plain weave glass. It wasn't bad on a flat surface but I don't think I would want to do it on a vertical surface. Which brings me to a question. It looks like its a good 1/16th thick with the filler coat, would that be over kill on a 20 to 25 foot boat bottom? Scott
capt jake
I don't think that would be too thick. You will probably end up grinding through part of the weave anyway during fairing. On the thicker cloth, we always wet out the substrate and then lay the glass inplace. It is much easier to get it to saturate (Dynel, etc).
