Guest Chris Gerkin
There was a thread a while back about plank seams. I bought the graphite to mix with epoxy. I started thinking about expansion and contraction in the seams. The underlying joint is epoxy. There would be no movement there but expansion could crack the epoxy seam. I went with a rubberized compound and then sanded everything flush. I think it will be OK. I still have not picked a finish for the wood in the cockpit but I have some ideas. sailingsun1@aol.com
Guest Bill
Looks good! What did you use for a compound? Did the stuff sand up pretty easy? Bill Graphics360@Adelphia.Net

Guest Chris Gerkin
I am almost embarrased to tell you. I was all set to order a lot of Sikaflex at 11.00 a tube. It is a polyurethane. I was at HD reading labels of caulk and came across Roof and Flashing sealant from PL. It is also a polyurethane. I bought one tube as a test. It dried in a couple of days. I belt sanded it and it looked like it should. It also remains flexible. Bottom line 3.47 a tube and it was very easy to work with. I will let the board know how it works. sailingsun1@aol.com
Guest jtam
I did something similar on my boat. Just one warning, I wanted to use Sikkens Cetol Marine as a finish, but I learned that it was not compatible with one part polysulfides (stuff in a tube) or polyurethanes like 3M 5200. From what I read it Cetol will disolve these caulks. I'd stay away from Cetol. jet6130@excite.com
Guest Chris Gerkin
You are right. I did not want to coat with epoxy because it would defeat the flexible caulk. I was thinking of Watco or I have another recipe. Probably the best think is to try a test piece and see. What did you end up using? sailingsun1@aol.com
Guest Frank Hagan, Weekender, O
Hmmm, Chris ... have you got a higher resolution pic of this one? Would you consider donating it to the Calendar Contest? Lots of pretty boats out there, but so far no one has submitted any construction photos ... and this one is great looking. fshagan@ev1.net
