Website Software Change coming in late 2026

The current software, Invision Community, has gone to a much higher subscription level for 2027 (about $500 a month). Because of that, I will be changing software sometime later this year. I am considering https://xenforo.com/ as an alternative. It is about the same price I'm paying now, and looks to have all the features available that we have here, including the automatic spam detection that seems to be failing on Invision Community. 

 

I'm open to suggestions on other forum software you like, though.

I have no objections or suggestions, do what you have to do. I'm sure there's enough of us that will help notify of any problems with the new software

It's usually a grueling three day affair to get all the databases converted, etc. So it's usually good to plan it around a slow time on the forums because everything has to be turned off for a while.

Frank, is there any way I can delete or otherwise block the viewing the spam that just happened. Spam irritates me and I would really like like to zap it personally. I am looking for satisfaction like you get when you eliminate a rat. Die evil spam, die.

It's a moderation tool thing, and you can make mistakes easily using it (erasing all posts, for instance). I just have to check each day now; the spam protection had gotten so good I was getting complacent. It's only a few clicks to ban a poster and remove all of his posts, so it's not a big deal when I do it. 

 

I'm also looking seriously at vBulletin for new forum software instead of Xenforo; vBulletin is used on The Wooden Boat Forum.
