Raid Erie 2026

I told my parents they should take their boat to Raid Erie but then we got to thinking hey we could actually do it too. So we're registered! so now I MUST finish my 20mk3 and they're going too. And I see already Erik is going in his 20mk3 also Niels Wade with his P22 and Andrew in his CS-20.

I looked into getting a reservation at the campground and it seems like they're full.

Eric posted this a while back on the fb group.... I presume that's the campground on the island. Im planning to leave my car at the East harbor state park campground and sail over. I think there is a group doing that then stay on the boat. 

 

The St. Hazards website is only set up to handle reservations for 10 tent camp sites, but the campground has room for many, many more tent campers. They will basically never run out of room. When it shows full, it just means you can't reserve using the website, you need to call or email to reserve:

I recommend calling, leaving a vm, and texting both numbers since its out of season for them.

 

Do not worry! you can even show up to St. Hazards during our event with no reservation at all, and they will accommodate you! Promise!

I am signed up for the event and looking forward to it.  I have a cabin (on land) that sleeps four.  At the Muskegon Messabout I coordinate, I met Eric and some others who attended Raid Erie.  It sounds like a great event!

 

Alan is correct, the campsite reservation page says sold out, but that's not true.  Check the Raid Erie Website and FB page for more information.

 

My plans are still loose because I don't know how many of the family are coming.  I might have room in my cabin, but likely not.  

 

They do allow you to combine boats in the slips, as long as the total length of the boats does not exceed the slip length.  Unfortunately I tried to save a few bucks and got a 36' slip.  That means a CS-17 couldn't snug up next to my CS-20.  Bummer.  But, there might be others with 17 feet of room in their slip, ask around on the Facebook page.

 

Alan, great to see you and family are coming!  I'm looking forward to meeting you.  I plan to sail over to the island, though I will make ferry reservations just in case the weather window doesn't cooperate.

We will already be in Michigan.  It’s what we do to escape the Carolina heat.  Since we’ll be pulling our travel trailer, I will be bringing Two Bits.  If I had a fifth wheel, I could tow both the trailer and the 20.3.  That idea was nixed by the War Department.

Hey I just stumbled upon this thread as I was working on the Participant Packet.
Yes...please do not be concerned about the website showing no sites available.  It's just a limitation of their web system.  There are plenty of sites available (although some may not have electric at this point). Also cabins with A/C, chalets, and villas.  Also, you are permitted to sleep aboard your vessel if you get a dock at the marina.

If you need a dock and they are all sold out, dont worry: we can find a dock for you to share.  Big docks - small boats!

@Eric Miller As you already know, I’m not attending the event this year.  Our summer plans got changed around a bit.  I mention it here for everyone else’s benefit.

I'm going to post this here before announcing to the larger group, just in case someone can join Raid Erie last minute.

 

I have extra dock space for anyone who wants to attend last minute.  If you're unaware, this marina lets multiple boats use the same slip, as long as the total is under the dockage feet.

 

The catch is I have only 15-16 feet available.  I have a CS-20 and a 36' slip.

 

In the off chance that you want to bring a CS-15 or Lapwing 16, or any other smaller boat, let me know ASAP!

Hopefully it's not too annoying for others if we do some trip planning here ....

 

I just made ferry reservations for Friday at 1:15 to head to the island.  However, if conditions are good to sail over I'd like to do that, and could leave earlier.  Thursday night we will be staying within 2 hours of the launch areas.  It would be fun to go over in a group.

Conditions will need to be good for me to sail to the island, as my oldest 3 boys are my best crew and they can't attend, so it would be me solo or with one of my younger ones as crew.

Andy, I'm likely solo. Been trying to get my son Andrew to join me, but it's looking 50-50 that he can get the PTO. I do plan on sailing across and would be happy to sail along side you. If the weather sucks, I'm probably in bad shape as I didn't make a ferry res.

I am suddenly considering going, and if I do I'll probably drive down thurday night and get a room nearby or get an early start from home on friday. Either way, I've not committed yet, but I'll be sailing to the island friday am wx permitted and would be happy to sail in company.

I plan to arrive on Friday AM to sail over to the event. I’ll be solo and would enjoy being with other boats on the little venture.

Smoke is bad up here (central Wisconsin) and ash has fallen like snow on friends in the eastern U.P.  Canada’s 2026 fires are significant. 

The smoke is a significant problem right now. Impossible to predict how things will be in two weeks. 

 

Right now, I am avoiding spending a lot of time outside.
