Hey folks,

Not sure if this is the right forum to be asking these questions, but I am just trying to do my due diligence with this trip as we got skunked with last year's canoe trip; Lake littered with cottages, over-fished, and rained out by a 100 year storm that flooded the area.

I'm planning a canoe trip in Algonquin Park. We've done a few here but we are trying to hit a new location that is less traveled. Our primary purpose is seclusion with good fishing. We'll be going the first week of August, so Bass is what we are targeting. I've been looking at Lake Madawaska and everything I've been reading about it says the fishing is exceptional in August for Bass. However, the question I have is, is the small river connecting Hay Lake to Madawaska passable in August? It kind of seems like we might get into some soupy situations and get bogged down in mud or low water levels. I want to avoid this as the trip is already pretty long.

I haven't been there in years, but from memory the paper map the park produces is very detailed on things like that.

Or you could try some other forums, or there is even a reddit page about the park that will have folks with first hand experience.

Have a great trip!
