I’m starting a Bieker 24-foot single outrigger powerboat build. Was going to order Raka Resin (https://duckworks.com/raka-resin-hardener-kits/) since I’ve used it before. Maybe I was ignorant to some problems.

Picked up my cut C&C wood yesterday from Bett’s Boats (https://www.bettsboats.com/). The C&C manager/cutter there was really encouraging me to use West System for more guaranteed results. Said Raka can blush and they’ve never seen West System do that.

Plan is to glass the hull sections flat with 6-ounce cloth before going 3D and joining them with fillets and glass tape over bulkheads on a strongback.

Anyone run into issues with Raka? Is West System really worth switching to?

Check out Bett’s Titanium Catamaran build if you haven’t seen it. Welding that thing without cooking it must’ve been a nightmare. https://www.bettsboats.com/yachts/current/titaniumcat/
