Steve W Posted July 21, 2024 Report Posted July 21, 2024 I am adding 3/4 hollow back stainless Rub Rails to Skeena. I'm having trouble sourcing 12' long rails (4 required) without enacting a $400 dollar truck shipping charge. I can get 6 foot lengths. Any source for 12 foot or 10 foot pieces? If you used 6' pieces how did that work? Any other advice? Thanks, Steve Quote
Oyster Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 If you have a west marine, [I know] they can bring it in on their trucks without freight charges and you can pick it up there. I also back fill the hollow back and have never had a problem with it collapsing when beating pilings, if applicable in your case. This also keeps water from possibly following the threads and into any wood that the rails are attached to over time. The six foot pieces will work. But even with the 12 foot pieces you may need to drill new holes at the ends, depending on how you lay it off so the spacing of the holes workout for fastening . I also use a metal counterbore the new holes. Quote
