Rob Blackburn
Hi Guys, back from our trip to Fraser Island and have put some photos up and here is a video edit of our launch day exported to Quicktime. Have 2 versions of same, one 2.3meg and one 6.5meg. http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/filechute/ALLECAT%202.3meg.zip bigger one... http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/filechute/ALLECAT%206.5meg.zip Photos are at.... http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/PhotoAlbum48.html Shall put a full report up soon but in summary the boat was bloody fantastic. Regularly cruised at 6knots gps with peaks of 8knots gps. Handled the weight, waves and wind perfectly. Shall be back in a few days with more.. Frank Hagan
Great pictures! I have the video downloading right now to take a look. You know, some of those pictures might just work on the 2004 messing-about.com Calendar (hint, hint). I like the one DSCN0015, with everyone ready to furl the sails, and DSCN0026 (really pretty shoreline shot). Gotta' get our share of B&B Yachts in this year's calendar, you know! Mike Vacanti
Is anyone else having trouble playing the videos? I've downloaded both versions but all I get is a playback of a blank screen. Mike
Rob Blackburn
Mike You need the Quicktime movie player from the Apple website... runs on Win and Mac and is free. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/qt/ Sing out if still a problem. Scott Church
Great shots Rob! I noticed what appears to be an anchor roller and offset deck pipe. I am planning on just such a modification to my CS17. I would be interested in your experience making the modification and any closeup photos you might have. I have a 5kg Bruce anchor so I was considering the Windline BRM-2 anchor roller. Any and all advice appreciated.
Rob Blackburn
Have put the videos up as non zipped files so they should play in a window in your web browser. The zipping alows it to be downloaded rather than be downloaded into the browser and played. http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/filechute/ALLECAT%206.5meg.mov http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/filechute/ALLECAT%202.3meg.mov Shall take some digital snaps of the anchor roller etc and put them up in the next few days. We built a small rope and chain locker and leave the anchor on the roller with a loop of chain around the bollard which we sited to allow just that. ie the right distance from the end of the roller. It worked really well and my only anal sort of comment is the 12 year old boys did not respect the clear polyurethane finish on the bow timber as much as I would have but in winter shall sand and redo.... thebob
Thanks for sharing those with us. Beautiful boat, beautiful location. Some shot of the rigging would help me out. Videos worked fine. thebob
Pat Mellema
I am also having a problem with quicktime. I run the program and quicktime opens and showes a blank video.
Rob Blackburn
when you ask about the rigging ... what in particular.?? Rob
thebob
A shot of the center board showing the downhaul and the main sheets would be good. thebob
Rob Blackburn
http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/PhotoAlbum49.html Shots of the centreboard and sheet systems. http://homepage.mac.com/blackburns/PhotoAlbum49.html Really happy with how they all worked out. Followed the plans largely I guess.... To attach the snotters to the mast in the end was simplicity itself. Just tied a figure of 8 in the end of the snotter and then attached it to the mast with a clove hitch. Snubbed it up tight to get the figure of eight up next to the knot and the more pressure put on the whole arrangement the less likely it is to come undone. Seems to work. And it did not slide up the mast as was my fear. I also used a trick from the Laser and made 2:1 and or 3:1 outhauls using a bowline in the centre and then getting a purchase on that back to the cleat. thebob
Thanks a lot Rob. Your attention to detail is outstanding. Absolute poetry. You really have cleared up any difficulty I had understanding the rigging. thebob
