Tiburon Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Hi group: I'm getting started on a Vardo build and have a question about the spacing of the brackets. The first one is set 3' 6" from the zero point. The Assembly Manual that came with the plans says to measure from the first bracket for the rest of them. My question is are the spacings given for the remaining brackets the distance from the first bracket or the zero point. So for example the measurement given for the second bracket is 6'6". Is that 6'6" from the first frame or from the zero point? Thanks, Tom Quote
lattenkracher Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Hi, the zero point ist the end ot the stern, measure everthing from there Quote

After laying the keel, I marked the keel with the position of first frame and then measured from that mark to the next frame and placed a mark. For example, on the Vardo, I measured two feet from the 3'6" frame to the 5'6" frame and marked the keel, from the 5'6" to the 6'6" I measured one foot and marked, etc. This method is easier than trying to stretch your tape 10+ feet down the boat. 1 Quote
Hirilonde Posted June 27, 2023 Report Posted June 27, 2023 The problem with marking each location based on the last one is that any error is carried forward to the rest of the frames. As a former builder, I awlays layed out walls, floors, roofs, from one end. 1 Quote

Then stretch my tape the full 18 feet to double-check. 1 Quote
