David F Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 68 years old, 200 pounds, small boat building experience (including a Mess About SOF), some kayaking experience. Am I going to be happy with a Ravenswood? TIA. Quote
andy00 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Brother David: The path to happiness can be hard to identify. But I can say that building and paddling a Ravenswood has given me much happiness. As far as displacement, refer to the attached photos. The first pic shows me (175 lb) and the second shows me and grandson (total 200 lb). I think that the boat looks to be on her lines at your weight. Regarding paddling, she is faster but more tiddly than a rec boat. It takes but a little time to get used to less stability but it is very rewarding. Have fun and don't hesitate to reach out for advice while building. Have fun! Quote
David F Posted June 18, 2023 Author Posted June 18, 2023 Thanks. I'm looking for a light, day use boat and starting to add up the cost of materials. This info is helpful. Quote
