Shrinkage expected from the 9oz fabric

I'm starting to put the fabric on my Castaway and I'm wondering how much I can expect the heavy duty 9oz fabric to shrink in the final stage. It's tough to get the cockpit section really tight because the canvas pliers are too long to allow any leverage in the shallow cockpit, plus the floor boards limit how much "pull" you can get on the fabric.

Best answer is try it on some scrap and see.

 

But you should be able to pull it tight with pliers. Sometimes you just have to get creative in your methods.
