bigtoepony
Hi folks, Has anyone any tips on installing a seat in stonefly? I would like to know the ideal position from ends and ideal height - the drop from inwale. Paddlers will be mainly Henry aged 14 and about 52 kgs (110lbs) but sometimes me about 70 kgs about 150lbs). Kudzu
Stonefly is a Double paddle canoe and was designed for the seat to sit on the floor or slightly elevated off the floor with feet in front of you. More kayak style of seating. It is not intended to have the seat up high like a standard canoe. On mine I have raised the seat up about half way between the floor and gunwale. You have to keep in mind that every bit you raise the seat height the higher the center of gravity is. A 1/4" can make a huge difference in how it fees. bigtoepony
thanks Jeff. I will keep it pretty low and see how it goes. I have it notched over the second stringer - the square section one and up against the frames. cheers Tony
