I embedded a Teflon sheet on each side of the case. I "carmilized" the Teflon with a few passes of a torch and dropped it into fresh goo, during assembly. I did the same on the centerboard sides that remained in the case with the board fully deployed. I did this because of the exceptionally close fit I had in the case and after 8 years, shows no issues other than the expected scuff marks. My CS case was fully closed top, so no paint was necessary, as light couldn't get below, even if stored uncovered outside.
