  1. I would check the sizes on off the shelf ones from the big boxes/marine store for small boats, inflatables, etc.. Get one close and bungee it on snug. Could make some simple props with dowels and crutch tips so water will run off. Been working for me, but I'm not one to worry too much about a cover's looks :-). Cheap ones seem to only last about a season or two out in the sun though. Rick
  2. Hi, Sorry we missed that connection. Maybe another adventurer will pop up. Measured some today. Total length of boat and trailer is 24' with removal of rudder. Can't shorten it as winch post is welded. She's 71 11" wide at the outside of the 14" full sized tires, single axle. 8' 2" tall ground to top of mizzen tabernacle with bimini folded down. Tongue weight estimated at about 200-225 # as I can just lift it a bit once with a big grunt. Hope this is helpful. Rick
  3. Randy, Will do the measurements tomorrow eve and post them. Will try and estimate tongue weight some how. Maybe Scott knows if he sees this. She seems is a bit tongue heavy but tracks great and was fine towed by my 3/4 van and old Toyota pick up with a bit stiffened up suspension. Scott towed her with a Ford Ranger I believe. She's probably about 3,000# all up. Rick
  4. Hi Chick, Have you put any of the piece parts together yet? Have a trip planned to Tenn mid July and will probably spend a day or two around Ashville/Weaverville with Grandsons and hopefully drop down for a visit if you'll be in town. Rick
  5. Hi Randy, Appreciate your interest and hope we can find a cost effective shipping scheme. She sits on a well fitted trailer that Scott and I have hauled her probably a few thousand miles or more with not apparent problems. Wondering if the boat and trailer could just be put on a long enough flat bed tow truck? Maybe the car haulers that move snowbird's vehicles around the county and could accommodate a boat and trailer. Another possibility may be one of the expediters that use private drivers that are bonded and insured to move travel trailers and 5th wheels. Maybe we could even set up a "relay" among ourselves to help members move boats around for gas and motel costs. Just thoughts. Rick
  6. Short attention span and curiosity :-). Next; maybe a very light, narrow but stable, Mandy/Jessy-like little explorer, with electric power like the one on Graham;s Mandy page, that I can slide into the back of my little pickup (with a tilting extension frame), and tow the combo behind our motor home. Something to replace our canoes & kayaks as we age. May dig out my old Porta-Bote if hinges haven't dried out, or see how comfy an electric Mandy/Jessy I can create depending on which design would run most efficiently with electric :-). Who knows? R
  7. Yes, its Scott's BH19 finished in 2006. Scott did fine work building her. I've had her since Nov 2011. I'm just not finding time to use her great cabin and capabilities much. Think I need the BRS15 back :-) or just a little runabout. Headed for shoulder surgery too and hate to see her just sitting on the hard all season or more. She's much as when I got her from Scott for $12K with 4.5 Johnson, fitted steel trailer and 3 sails. Haven't stayed after some of the brightwork though, and hull could use freshening up in couple of spots, so willing to let her go to a new home for a bit less, $9.800. For new members, she's the yellow one on the B&B Yachts BH19 page. She's located in Washington NC about 8 miles east of town on the Pamlico River. Lots of construction details on the CD and in Scott's archived postings. Will put her in the classified forum next week. Please ring or email if interested. 8. Know what you mean. I keep roaming about the web in free time looking for a match. Seems well built and a nice comfy layout for a day sailer. Going to try and examine it more closely next week and see if I can uncover any more #s/letters under the paint, try and get some detailed hull and sail measurements, etc. Friend is using it to learn & practice fiberglass repair, refinishing, rigging, etc. Tks, Rick
  9. Thanks Chick. Very similar basic hull but interior different with mast stepped on foredeck vs our bridge deck, and different layout in stern. Good ideas for rigging ours in the pics though, and specs to compare with. Tks, Rick
  10. Thanks. Will shoot a pic of boat and logo and post. Rick
  11. Hi, A mate is restoring a nice small ~15' centerboard sloop from a charity sale and the only ID info we can find is a "W/15" in a simple crest on the cast aluminum rudder cheeks. No HIN. Mast steps in a SS base on a thwart/bridge deck just aft of the little cuddy. Molded seats along both sides. Storage with hatch across the stern. SS gunnel guard with rubber insert. No sails to help. Thank you for any information/guidance. Rick
  12. Hi, I'm going to Graham's to pick up the Mandy/Amanda Friday. Could use your help setting up the tent and our boat area on Sat morning say about 0830? We'll be just west of the Chamber of Commerce brick building on the waterfront. Thanks, Rick 252-945-4472
  13. Boat is looking super. Old 4.5hp Johnson does fine on the BH19. Would love to go electric but pricy and like Chick worry battery(ies) duration, so may wait a year or two and see how technology goes.
  14. Great. Also the Comfort Inn is apparently ok too. I may also go get the Mandy/Amanda the Friday before to show if available at Graham's and if ok with him. See you all on the 26th. Rick 252-945-4472
  15. Hi, At this time I'll be bringing the BH19, Tony Day plans to bring his P22, and Graham and Carla will be bringing components of the new CS17 MkIII to demo construction. Allen may bring his CS17. I will offer to bring any other boats Graham has available his shop is only about a hour from us. No personal/friends knowledge on the Baymont In, in nearby Chocowinity but it has some good, some so-so reviews. Its about 4 miles from the Washington waterfront. A couple of local restaurants close by but best food choices probably downtown Washington. Hampton used to be best around but crappy reviews lately, and its also a couple of miles from downtown. Appolo's (on the waterfront) steaks pretty good last we went couple of weeks ago. Other decent 3 stars on the waterfront too. Our favorite - Backwater Jacks on the water but about a mile east of the downtown waterfront at our boat ramps and kayak outfitters. Very popular Tiki type place with very good food, great views, but not fancy. Hope this helps. Look forward to seeing you. Ring if more info needed. Rick 252-945-4472
  16. May also be able to use seam sealer tape/liquid over the stitching like that used on good hiking clothing, tents, shelters, etc. Just a thought. R
  17. Great Tony. She's a real crowd favorite. Yes, I need to do some of the brightwork on the BH19 also. Will never get her as nice as yours though. Thanks, Rick
  18. Hey that's why the forum's here :-). Neat little tug. No apparent moving/loose parts and if safe paint would be tempted to give it to him soon. Greg333 you may want to start another topic along the line of "BH19 vs CS17MkIII vs CS20MKIII" and get some lively comments on the advantages/challenges of each of Graham's pocket cruisers as fans see them so far. I think the MkIIIs have some nice advantages over the BH19. Only challenge I see off the top is walking the cabin top (for this 70+ old dog) to reach something forward that may not be easily accessible from the cabin top slot. I'd love to have one of the MkIIIs at the Marine Mart in April to compare with my BH19. But may have to wait for the Oct Messabout? Rick PS Just remembered and saw the continuing thread on the 17 and 20 MkIIIs that should grow into a comparison piece once one or more hit the water. Rick
  19. Understand. Thanks for clarifying. See you at the Marine Marker. Rick
  20. Have great fun with the build. Hope to see her coming along next time I visit the Grands in Ashville. Should be a neat messin' about boat. Rick
  21. That would be ok. Saturday best for me. She's at McCotters Marina on her trailer. At Broad Creek east of Washington. Near the end of River Road along the north shore of the Pamlico. Ring me when you get close. 252-945-4472.
  22. Hi, Graham and Carla are planning another wood boat building demo at the 4th annual Washington NC Marine Market on the waterfront from 1-4 pm on Saturday April 26th 2014. The Market runs from 9-6 and as last year I'm trying to get as many wooden boats displayed as possible to promote wooden boat building and share ideas among builders & owners. We had a great turnout and interest last year. Market details at http://washingtononthewater.com/WashMarineMarket.html Please let us know if you would like to display your cartop or trailered wood boat at the Market - no charge, but I have to plan for space. I'll be bringing the BH19. There is a Wildlife ramp about 3/4 mile from the show site but you would have to have masts down to clear a bridge at the ramp, and then cruise the waterfront. Thank you, Rick 252-945-4472 New Info: Graham plans to bring components of the new CS17MkIII, and the Cocktail Racing Assn. plans to demo their mini home-built wood 8hp racers.
  23. Good suggs and nice rack from Dave above. For a one=time trip could be as simple as some foam pads/1/2 swim noodles on your top frame/windshield or hard top with lines run under the top at the door openings, and fore & aft lines from the bow & stern to bumper holes/tow eyes. Just keep everything snug but not over-tight to distort the boat's frame. For frequent carries might look into racks by Yakima/Thule/Malone that may be designed for your model and year Jeep and then add commercial or custom cradles to the bars. I've scored lots of low cost Y/T/M good used parts off eBay once you know what you need/would like. Just thoughts, R
  24. She looks great! Want to build a nesting version for my BH maybe over the winter and hoping to fit her to the cockpit for travel. Tks for the pics. R
