  1. Home built Core Sound 17 located Everett Washington. $1,200. Hull and decks are composite wood cored fiberglass. Masts and booms are spruce. This is a project. The boat sat outside under a tarp for 8 years. If you ever considered building a boat this is an opportunity to get a real head start. Just the materials to build this cost $5,200 2005. I also have the plans with all dimensions to ease repairs. We have been working on the restoration for a while now but we are moving and can't take her with us. The hull and decks are sound. There is rot in the frame that runs inboard longitudinally on the edge of the port seat, and some rot in the plywood below it. The fix would involve removing the plywood piece, replacing the 1"x2" frame, and putting a new piece of plywood in. Masts had rot at top 6". Mizzen has had 5' added to bottom with a 12:1 scarf, 3"x3"x8' clear Doug fir timber ready to be scarfed onto the main. The boat comes with older lace on sails and running rigging. Centerboard has been removed (very easy to put back in) and refinished, booms have been refinishes, 8' oars repainted, new rudder that needs to be painted. The EZ Loader galvanized trailer is in fair shape. The rusted cross member has been replaced, but there is some surface rust on the springs . Washington title for boat and trailer in hand.
