  1. Not sure if this is the problem or not, I had to get a firewire connector in order for my computer to recognize my camera. I had a USB adapter to the video plus (can't remember their exact name, like and RCA) and it never would recognize it. I tried Movie Maker and didn't really like it because it edited where it wanted to and not where I wanted it.
  2. I use Round Up in place of the trimmer. I used to run the Weed Eater too many times each year. I finally started 'edging' with Round Up. It takes little bit of timing and small effort here (in between rain and waiting for the temps to be high enough to work) but it saves me tons of time in trimming. In the 'wilder' areas, this year I sprinkled Casaron and it has worked wonders! No more unwanted grass and weeds in those areas. I also use a pre-emergent weed preventer in the flower beds. Snap Shot and Surflan are the two that I have had great succes with (similar to Preen, but way cheaper) I get all of this through a wholesale supplier. I just had to fill out a small amount of paperwork to open a cash taxable account (they are accountable to the Feds for some products sold). I used the Weed Eater once this year, first time in 4 years, to crispen the edges on one bed.
  3. Hey Bruce, it looks to be upside down. It also looks like there are very large gaps in your planking.... Honestly, that looks really good! I just had to beat Konrad to the punch.
  4. Pain this AM around a 3-5 depending. Then it went away! I just blew off the roof and driveway and feel fine now. Although a bit winded, no pain. Of course this happened lat week also, so I will wait and see. An odd ordeal for sure.
  5. It helped a bunch! I had the guarding pain, but now it is pretty much the nerve pain. It comes and goes for no apparent reason. I have good days and bad (with no apparent cause). Now, since I started and workman's comp claim, there is the issue of referrals and who is paying for what. Our health insurance in this country is messed up for sure. I have a few more massage treatments scheduled that I will pay for out of pocket if necessary. I already paid for one to just get relief for that day. Now I have to just wait for the claim to be processed and approved (it better be). then we can move forward with the neurologist, etc...
  6. I start the commute on Monday. I just can't wait, I am so excited..... I haven't had to spend a lot of time in the car yet, but it hasn't seemed too bad. Just this pain down the back of my arm that never goes away. It may lesson for a while, but it has been here for a month now. Commuting, YUK!
  7. Thanks guys. All good advice. I liked the slobbering dog advice. I start the commute on Monday morning. I am working light duty , M-F. I am overjoyed! NOT! Going to work in the AM is a breeze, but I will get off in the heat of rush hour. that at least doubles the commute time. Oh well....wait and see what the specialist says. Sanding??? Somebody always has to bring up sanding.... LOL :)
  8. Well, this has been a tough month for me
  9. Ahh...the joy of grandkids! I hear ya on that one! :0
  10. If I am not mistaken, Minwax Spar is a polyurethane. McKloskey is now a subsidiary of Minwax and it is actually a varnish. I have had mixed results with polys and have never been able to isolate the causes. I always have better luck with varnish if I cut it a bit with thinner, usually mineral spirits.
  11. Thank you for letting us know. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
  12. That.....is totally weird! My wifes jaw hit the floor with that one!
  13. Now that is one precious picture! I hope you have that blown up and framed in a prominent location.
  14. I found it! It was a lot more fun when it came out almost like a weekly comic strip, but here it is in it's entirety. http://www.roguepaddler.com/princess.htm
  15. Joe the Builder was a very fun thread to watch. I miss Joe and his adventures.
  16. It always amazes me how the internet gives other people the ability to ready my mind. that pretty much states my thoughts.
  17. That took forever to load for me, but it was well worth it! I miss that climate you have back there.
  18. I tried it, it didn't work too well. You had to be on a very precise heading and the wind could not change at all in order for it to work. I did, however, keep the smaller jib up front, on roller furling gear. It's original intent was that of a storm jib anyway. I have both my lapper and smaller storm jib on roller furling. Simply use whichever one suits the conditions. The lapper is so large, that I needed a way to reduce sail area and this one works well.
  19. It really depends upon the type of foam. Though I can't tell you the make-up difference, I have bought cases from a local bargain store that were awesome. But the next shipment were crap.
  20. Wow, that statement sounds vaguely familiar to me. I can't quite remember who recently told me that. Oh yeah, it was my wife.......
  21. You might want to consider little toes. They might tend to get stuck in the spaces. Just a thought.
  22. I may have missed it, but tell us about the other boat in the shed in the background, please.
  23. You certainly have the eye to see potential in virtually anything. I think this is a great way to re-use a boat. I suppose you should now paint it green (green with recycling). This certainly isn't your first 'green' boat. I have admired all of your builds.
  24. I went out to talk with Sam today. Unfortunately, he was teaching a S&G class for the Center for Wooden boats. I did have a good time talking with on of his employees I used to work with though. Sam had the only 25 they built there for some minor work. I have to say, that is a lot of boat! It sure was purty though.... For now I have to think. I have to make a decision to sell the other boats before anything will happen. Then I have several thousand to spend on getting the shop sealed up (insulation and SR) because it is too drafty and cold in the winter. I rebuilt the runabout in there a couple of years ago, but the power bill got me in trouble! 16' ceilings are too high for me to even think about hanging sheetrock in there.
