Hi jay mark here since the start of building my cs 20 mk3 I had the same problem of finding a good source of hardware that would not send you to the poor house, locally west marine has a good variety but at a cost, but then I found a better supplier that has pretty much what you want most of which is 316, you can buy either one or a full bag or box . Prices are very reasonable. I don’t know if they mail order, the name Tacoma screw 509 5360229 you might give them a call if they have what you need and don’t mail order get a hold of me and I will be more than happy to arrange for shipment from my end

nice to here from you its a lot of work to build a cs boat they do a very good job in their design and production and their hardware package is second to none. I haven’t sailed a cs boat, or any other for many years it will be a great learning curve once it’s done, there are many options to take into consideration I chose to raise the seat tops in the cabin which gives you a little deeper locker but my wife and I are well under 6feet tall so it didn’t affect us. Well just have to see how it goes. If you have any particular questions please don’t hesitate to call or write the forum were all here to help any way we can. I don’t know of many boats here in this part of the country most seem to be on the east coast or off shore

Well let’s see here bigger is better, but cost is also a factor for me I wanted a boat that would be great to sail single handed and have the capability to sleep in the cabin and of course it needs to have room for a portable head.I am still building the boat this year this month will be two years into the build. Well if that’s all it is I personally would pull in the gap and fair in the miss match with fairing compound and once it’s painted only you know its there

Well I finally have the cabin top installed and the hatch cut outs in the next thing was to install the companion way sliding hatch side rails,and forward hatch parts.

Hello! Most of the time I spray I use a cheap harbor freight gun they work sufficiently enough for this type of paint application, the biggest problem is that you use more paint than by brush because you put a lot of paint in the air that leads to another problem of overspray if you plan to paint indoors you need to cover everything in your room to keep the overspray off of it or build a temporary paint booth, but you should have a positive air flow. And don’t forget your paint respirator. It seems like a lot of work but the outcome can be quite rewarding.

Ok after due consideration I went ahead and made trim rings to go under the port lights each light will have a trim ring inside and out which will be finished as bright work, also the interior of the cabin will be trimmed with heavy duty vinyl instead of paint since I hate painting 0

My varnish problem ok this is my question what am I doing wrong, I am applying varnish to the bulkheads and stringers in the cabin of my cs mk111, the wood has had two coats of epoxy and sanded with 220 grit to get it smooth with no shiny spots, wiped down the work with alcohol the varnish that I’m using is total boat lust The first two coats of varnish were thinned 25% with mineral spirits then I applied four additional coats at full strength varnish letting it dry about an hour and a half between coats at first I was using a Chyna bristle natural brush and then switched to a foam brush the problem I’m having is since this work is vertical surfaces I cannot apply enough varnish to let it flow out without drips or runs and the result is full of brush marks and frankly looks like cottage cheese so what am I doing wrong I really would like to know I have watched have a dozen videos on how to varnish but they all seem to work on flat surfaces where they can put enough varnish on to let it flow out looking forward to hear your comments and solve my problem

Hello everyone and good sailing! been making some progress got the floor glued in got the hatch covers installed then went to installing the mizzenmast tabernacle. I did make a small error by installing the base of the tabernacle first this did lead to a little more effort in getting the mast angle and offset correct, once I feel comfortable with the numbers I will install it permanently

When I built my spars I laminated Doug fir and mahogany then cut them into a hexagon I think I will taper the ends to a round shape?

Hi Dave, I chose to make my solid wood and bright work out of mahogany, the rub rail is not finished yet I still have to put the bevel on the top&bottom and taper the bow ,the dim of the rail is 3/4x11/4

Hi! on my boat I placed a live bait tank pump in the battery compartment with the pick-up as close to the keel as possible this is because these pumps are not self priming so the pump has to below the water line, I then used a bulkhead fitting to go thru the forward bulkhead of the ballast tank this is my fill pump. In The ballast tank right under the access hatch I placed a bilge pump plumbed out thru the starboard bulkhead exiting above the water line each will have its own switch on the power panel I know this seems awkward way to do it but when I saw how muck those ski boat water ballast pumps cost this was my compromise but I’am ok with it

Busy day in the shop today made my steam generator so I could steam bend the forward end of the rub rail after 45min I took the bag off and the wood was soft enough to bend around the hull contur

I am building a cs mk3 hull #24 the cost of the kit is just the beginning it is not a hard build but it is challenging and it takes quite a bit of room to build and have room to move around , this boat is costly in the end you will put in many hours but the out come is well worth it
