  1. I think it's gonna get better... Peace, Robert
  2. Very interesting boat. Looks good on you, too. Enjoy it in good health. Peace, Robert
  3. Yep. Just unit swap. Multiply by 25 and all the numbers jive. Yea! The system works!
  4. Just a few more patches to sew on, then I can get the coaming in.
  5. Judging by the lawn, I'd say a used A300... Heh heh. The boat looks slick. I might be tempted to just kneel on a pad. I find it a very effective way to single paddle a canoe or pirogue, and it is my preferred method for serious river running. You might could even sit on the floor with a double, being as you're a bigun, like me. Peace, Robert
  6. I'm worried about the grain orientation of the wood where the sewing line will pass through. The plywood is good fir, though it does have a few inner ply knots that came loose. I am just being cautious the stitches digging in and, effectively, loosening, and if the line starts to cut into the inevitable end grain exposed by cross drilling plywood from either sewing tension, or working during use, that would do it. Plus, I got these cool syringes from the vet, and I want to practice with them. I'm building two stitch and glue sailboats right now, too, after all. And, yeah, why rush now?
  7. Seems weird to have counted the parts in your boat. The number of parts ain't got nothing to do with it, by the by. I can still turn out a anthropometrically measured custom fit kayak, complete with steamed ribs let into mortises and mortised deck beams in 60 hours skinned, if you got the scratch to motivate me. At least a hundred individually made and measured parts. Your boat is neat. Is the frame lashed, or glued and screwed? Did you design it? What's it made of? The frames, stringers, and skin, I mean. Peace, Robert
  8. Multiplying the numbers by 25 gives numbers that look to line up. It has been suggested already an imperial/metric swap. Did you check this out? Even NASA has transposed numbers, and measurement systems before. Peace, Robert
  9. Beauty, eh. You've got about an inch and 15 pounds on me. Sorry about your thumb. Glad it was minor, though. Peace, Robert
  10. Sorry
  11. Drilled my coaming full of holes. Finishing it all of in the next few days, and ready to sew in. Sewing of patches continues. I am working up a graphical treatment involving the faux patches I put on to disguise the real one I needed. Paddle is being carved a bit at a time. Me blade is close, the other less so. Keeping it even, though. Scales help... Baby steps continue, as does my crazy busy life. I'm getting pretty darn excited to paddle this guy, though...
  12. Yea! The system works! Have fun on your build. Post lots of pics. Peace, Robert
  13. If this were the case, I wouldn't be reminded every day I was never as clever and cool as I thought. Me: "Was I really that goofy as a kid?" Chorus: "No. You were worse!" I still don't believe it. I was cool, and awesome, and perfect as a child, as I recall. Heheh. Now, kids from the extended family... Peace, Robert
  14. Oh, yes. There's a little spot I know like what you describe, Ken, full of bluegill. We cull the herd regularly. Those fools eat little foam spiders, or moths like they are candy. I'm out now, but I will tie some more mice. I got this recipe from a guy what produces an articulated fur body with a gross looking little tail. That and the frogs destroy diurnally. Quiet top water stuff. Slurps and blorps rather than bloop and pops. Stuck in the saltwater, with a stiff breeze? Ken, sounds like you need some flash jigs to use, eh? Better, yet, you ever trolled under sail? Reaches work well. Peace, Robert
  15. Oh, no, I think lists are awesome. I can't make them, but I can follow them. My whole life is stream of consciousness, and my lists look like my mind. My lists always look terrible (well, the writing or script is always impeccable) and make no real linear sense, but my wife is an organizing fool. I mean, amazing at squeezing any process into a series of logical steps. We discuss stuff, she makes a list and I have a good tool to follow. Only for something major like the frolic or CS. The rest of the stuff I do can tolerate random flybys. Peace, Robert
  16. Sorry, Steve. At least you have some great things to look forward to to keep up morale. Peace, Robert
  17. Yep. You're gonna find time right when all the yahoos give it up for the year. You'll be just in time for some early fall/late summer cruises in your Breeze. Plus, despite her name, I bet you might even could sneak in a winter one, or two. Have fun camping! Peace, Robert
  18. Learning! Just keep it up, you are doing a brilliant job. Of explaining, too. I'm right on board now. And, please, don't think I ever doubted you. As I said, the beauty is learning different ways of problem solving. You are innovating, and we're behind you, though it may take a while for us to catch up. Peace, Robert
  19. This is really to keep off poor Chick's thread. Here's my go to dapping pole I always carry. Yes I modified it by wrapping the sections, shortening it, and adding a better tip top. Mostly, though, I wanted to show you my wooly bugger, Ken. I know you are right. Catch anything on these. And a picture of my mini streamers that derived from some jigs I was tying. They are meant to resemble our little shad, but really any litte snack fish. Anyone else have a pet fly?
  20. I still can't help, but be patient. Help is coming! Peace, Robert
  21. Can't see all the numbers. Take this query to the Kudzu section, though. It's active with builders, and Jeff checks in all the time to answer questions. I'm sure he'd be happy to set you straight. Peace, Robert
  22. Oh, mine, too. Boy, brother, I needed that belly laugh. It was shaping up to be one of those days... I really do hate sometimes y'all live so far away. Then again, maybe it's nice we can't get in each other's hair, them want still have it. Ah, well. Reminds,me of pen pals as a kid. Peace, Robert
  23. Dang it, Paul. You made me blow coffe out my nose!
  24. I'm with you, Dave. I'm kind of confused, but I kind of get it. However, the best part of this type of place is the perspective of everyone else. Our minds all work so differently, it's cool to see how other people work, because they sometimes do things in ways that change the game. I was a big cheerleader from the start, so I'm extra invested, but this is a cool experiment. Keep it up! Peace, Robert
  25. I had no idea on the seat, but I'm pretty sure Jeff knows what he's talking about. This little canoe looks really nice. It is going to be marvelous once it's done! Peace, Robert
