2007 Core Sound 17 “Southbound” is for sale. It turns out it is possible to have too many boats. The pictures are from when I bought the boat about a year ago. She is currently in the garage all covered up. Will take more pictures soon. Since I bought the boat, I have updated to the new masts with sail track and replaced both sails with sails from Sailrite. I also just finished a red white and blue mizzen staysail. I do still have the original sleeved sails and probably the original spars.
The boat is in great condition. Also includes a good trailer. It does NOT include the motor in one of the pictures.
The boat is currently in Port Charlotte, Florida.
$8,250

Musicman:
Hope you came thru the storm ok. I know you guys had a bunch of flooding down there.
I messaged you directly a few days ago in case you did not see it...

Partially finished Core Sound 17 Mk III. Built from cnc kit from B&B Yacht Designs. It is just about to the point where it is ready to flip and start the fiberglass on the outside. Health issues prevent me from finishing the boat. I would rather sell it to someone that will finish it than have it become a fixture in the garage.
I have the boat kit, the foils kit, the mast kit. I also have SailRite kits for the sails. Here is the listing on Craigslist:

Price is negotiable. Boat is located in SW Florida. -
Why don't either you or your friend shoot me an email directly. I would sell it, but the price would depend on what all he wanted... and on how much more work I do on it.
My email address is ralph.bush at earthlink.net
If they are interested, I am sure we can come up with a reasonable price.

I am in SW Florida. It is built from a kit. I have pretty much everything, including masts, rudder, centerboard, etc. All from B & B. I also have the Sailrite kits for the sails. No trailer yet, because I have not needed one yet but used trailers aren't that hard to find down here.
Not sure about the price. I honestly had not thought about selling it until I saw your post. It is very close to being ready to flip over and glass the bottom.

Has your friend found a CS17 Mk 3 yet? I have one partially finished. Was hoping to finish in time for the next EC, but does not look like it is going to be completed in time. Might consider selling...

Well, my mother used to say "if it was a snake it would have bit you". The information I was looking for was right there in the instructions. It is 2 inches.

I am starting to dry fit the sheer strakes and coaming on my Core Sound 17 Mk3. I am pretty sure that I want to add the optional oarlock cutout. It looks like the plans have lots of information for the fore/aft location of the cutaway but I don't see anything that really shows how much lower that it should be. I think the plans say something about "a couple of inches". I am not sure how literally to take that.
Anyone done that on theirs? If so, how much and how did it work?

I am in the process of building a new Core Sound 17 mk 3 and have a few questions about the centerboard trunk. I am getting ready to seal the centerboard trunk and glass it into the boat. I have seen several threads on here that mention a rubber pad or bumper inside the trunk. It does not mention it on the page in the instructions that deals with building the trunk, but it does show it on the page where it shows rigging the centerboard. It seems like it would be much easier to put a bumper of some kind inside before I seal it up. What have others used for that bumper? How do you fasten it.....epoxy it?
Also, on the assembly page is shows filling the pivot pin hole with epoxy and then drilling it out. On the rigging page it shows not drilling all the way thru so that it only has to be sealed on one side. Already drilled it before I saw that so will need to refill part of the hole. Not really a problem, just wondered how others had done theirs.
Any insight would be appreciated. I am probably obsessing about this a little too much, but I would rather fix my mistakes before it is glassed in place.
