  1. Thanks Paul. We were looking forward to seeing all you folks and Old Codger wanted to meet the new boats. Also our annual "mini-cruise".
  2. Thanks to y'all for helping K.J. out with advice. I'll be helping with the build, so at least he won't have to worry about gaining the skills. We'll be working in my "garop".
  3. Old Codger and I won't be able to come. Medical problems. Y'all post plenty of pictures for us to enjoy.
  4. It's good to see it being loved and used!
  5. Hey guys, I have a friend that is wanting a CS17 or 20, Mk3 partially finished boat that he can complete. He would also maybe be interested in one that is not being used and needs repairs. Please reply here if you know of one that is available.
  6. Almost all of the drive comes from the forward third of the sail except when sailing down wind. Don't worry about a silly little 9%. You're bigger problem is the speed/length ratio. Shorter waterline=slower speed. 1.34 times the square root of the waterline length. If you can get up on plane, you can exceed this, but I doubt your pram will do that.
  7. What's the latest on the messabout. I just signed up for it. Looks like Covid is here to stay for awhile. GOTTA have Saturday night BBQ!!! Maybe we could all wear masks and the folks that bring the BBQ could serve it out to us so we wouldn't touch the serving utensils.
  8. Regarding fiberglass sheathing. I rarely use it on canoes, dinghies, small boats unless they will be dragged on the ground. It adds little strength over plywood, only some protection from "wear and tear". I did use it on my 15 ft. Old Codger cruising boat as it often gets pulled up on beaches. I usually do sheath bigger boats. My method is to use 6 oz. cloth on the sides and 10 oz. on the bottoms, both overlapping at the chines. I eliminate the strip of cloth taping there.
  9. Awww, c'mon Thrillsbe, "Chick Ludwig’s and B&B’s paint jobs." HA! B&B's, yes, but you forgot your glasses when you looked at mine! YOU on the other hand do great paint jobs. You even sand and do multiple coats!
  10. Well, us older boaters never die---we just get a little dinghy! ...and leaky bottoms!
  11. I'm lookin' forward to "riding along" with y'all. Take lots of pictures. By the way---"Good lord willin' and the crick don't rise" actually refers to threats of the Creek Indians rising up in war back in the late 1700s.
  12. Carlita need a nice big 25hp Tohatsu for when the wind stops!
  13. What's the latest on Carlita's great adventure? Departure date?
  14. Here ya talking but no video.
  15. Where in Ga. are you? What is your price?
  16. I LOVE my DeWalt sander. I use it with the dust bag attached and it provides all the wood flour I need to thicken resin to make putty for glue and fillets.
  17. Welcome back Jay! Lookin' GREAT! Shocking amount of wiring. (Pun intended.)
