  1. Everything is ready to go 3D except fairing the bow when the epoxy cures. Here are a few pic's of the panels glassed in the butterfly stage. hopefully they are correct. Graham if you see something in the pic's that don't look right let me know. [attachment over 4 years old deleted by admin]
  2. Tom I am planning to wire up on Wednesday some time before noon if you want and can join in you will be very welcome. I emailed you with my phone number. If you will send me yours I will call with directions. I am having email and provider problems right now so I may not get through to you. If not you can call B&B and get my phone number. dont use the email address I have posted in the members. Use the new one that you recived with the email. Scott
  3. Tom I don't know when yet. When I think Iam getting close there is more things to do. Right now I still need to; 1. cut out the transom 2. build the temp. bulkhead 3. finish the cradle which is 75% done 4. cut out #1 bulkhead. I will have a week off starting friday but some important family matters need to be tended to this weekend, so wont get started again till monday. So as of right now I cant put my finger on the stich up day. If I can get a whole day in the shop we could be ready the next day. Scott
  4. Thank you Graham, actually there is a small dip in the keel line that you did not put in the design. You cant see it in the photos but it was there. I added a bit of material this morning and Ill refair that edge back to your design. My saw got a bit to close to the line. P Doug I never thought of using the Christmas idea, I wonder if it would work on my wife to get a outboard motor. Frank 3D sounds good to me! Tom I am in the Chrisney area. I may take you up on the offer if you don't mind the drive. When I decided on the Belhaven I was torn between the Princess also. I went with the Belhaven mostly because of cost to build and I would be using the boat by myself 90% of the time. Scott
  5. Here are some pictures of the panels cut out and faired. I have to bevel the keel edge a bit yet and drill the wire tie holes. Hopefuly when the cradle is built this week and I get the bulkheads cut out we can wire her up and see the shape. IF I can find enough help for a few hours to help hold up these floppy panels. The next pics will be the wired up hull. Scott [attachment over 4 years old deleted by admin]
  6. Got side panels of the hull scarfed and glued up today. Hope to get the bottom panels scarfed together this week. And maybe with a little luck have them finish cut and faired by this weekend. Found some real nice select Douglas fir at Lowes for the stringers, sheer and keel batten. Ill post some pictures when we start wiring the hull up. Scott
  7. My little girl Jordyn is six and is my helper in the shop, she wants to say hi in her own way. i lgbnvgfdelb iloveboat
  8. The Plywood and epoxy has arrived. It is a Belhaven and it just dont know it yet! Hope to get started this weekend. Everything is here and waiting except the time. I have a week off coming up on the 10th of next month, Lord willing we will make some progress. Trying to locate some Douglas fir for the framing lumber. Lowes carried fir when I built my last boat hopefully they still do, will find out tomorrow. Hope to have some pic's for you all soon. Scott
  9. Pat I didn't know what to do with my spare time when I finished my Penobscot 14. You are right there is a joy to building a boat and watching the hull come to life. But all married boat builders should beware that when a boat is done. A woman will come up with all kinds of honeydos. So I think it is wise to never get done with the boat your working on, or keep a fresh set of plans around the house!!!! Scott
  10. I have hull #3 so there are two more out there somewhere. Scott
  11. Plywood and epoxy are ordered. Hope to get started in a week or two. I will try not to post constant pictures, but will post when the boat and I make a new turn. My wife thinks I am a little goofy but I feel like a expecting father again. Scott
  12. I am getting ready to order the plywood for my Belhaven and wondered what you all think about the differences in B.S.1088 and B.S. 6566? I used Okoume 6566 on my Penobscot 14 and I did find one small void in one of the sheets. But as far as finishing I used the best side for the brite side and all turned out good. There is a savings of about $400 in using the 6566 over 1088. That will go a long way towards the epoxy. I dont want to take any shortcuts but I also dont what to throw money out ether. What you all think? Scott
  13. Belhaven it will be! The plans are on order my decision is finished and final. I like all of Graham's designs but the Belhaven fits my need the best at the moment. We got to see Chic's Princess it was a beautiful boat but a little more than I want to build right now. Also got to look at an Core Sound that was also wonderfully built. I want to publicly thank Carl and Graham for their hospitality. That is a rare thing these days. Can not wait to smell saw dust again but it will be this fall before it is started. Scott
  14. Frank she sails wonderfully, But she is also the only boat I have ever sailed so I really cant compare with anything else. She is tender but under sail she stiffens up when she is heeled a bit. So far I haven't capsized her, but everything I've read about small boat sailing said its not if but when. I did do a capsize test to see how she would do full of water. I rigged her with a lug rig because of the simplicity of rigging at the ramp. Next week we are hauling her to Oak Island NC. on vacation hope to get in some sailing and exploring. I guess I wasnt totally successful posting that picture but it was a start. Scott
  15. Hopefuly this picture of my Penobscot 14 will come through. [attachment over 4 years old deleted by admin]
