  1. It is a date, Plan on it, Will be one weekend in February. Peace and Respect Kelly
  2. Hello all, It is wintertime and my shop is not heated, so spend a lot of time surfing and dreaming. First thought is to make a Spindrift 12 to row and sail around with my wife's 8' pram. I really really want a light small boat that I can put in and take out almost every single day to row for exercise. Nothing serious, just to move around a little (getting old, fat and lazy). Later on I would make a CS 17 for sailing. or the CS 20 and mount an outboard as secondary... Then sometimes I think maybe a CS 15. That would be a compromise to row and sail. Then wouldn't need to make the 17... But the CS 17 sails so fast and has water ballast.... I am dying to try a boat with ballast. If I make the Spindrift, could a person put the mast on a tabernacle that was higher than a persons head when rowing? I envision rowing for fun, but if the wind was right I could also pivot up the mast and sail on the fly. Heck. Any advice would be fine. Like I said just kicking ideas.
  3. How is the build going? How bad did the Tropical Storm hit? Thank you Peace and Respect Kelly F
  4. That is perfect. Absolutely perfect. I am smitten with these boats. I would really like to see one or two in person. I will have my wife with me, we are making a weekend out of it. (Knoxville TN here) Looking forward to meeting you all. If there is anything I can do to help you all move stuff, don't hesitate. I have a trailer hitch, so don't be shy. Peace and Respect Kelly
  5. Who will be at the Boat Festival in Washington NC on Apr 26th? Would anyone recommend the Baymont Inn for lodging? Can a person get a good steak there?
  6. Are there quite a few Lapwings being used today? If a person is fairly competent/confident, would he be ok to make this boat with plans only? Warm weather is right around the corner! Peace and Respect Tn Kelly
  7. If you were wanting a daysailer, would you choose the CS 17 (Ballasted) or the CS 20? I live 3 minutes from a boat ramp. I sail in Tennessee on one of the lakes created by a Dam. I will usually be by myself, but sometimes will have wife or friends....but usually alone. Someone once said that you should always go with the bigger one. As a novice sailer which size would be suitable? Thinking about the MKIII really really hard. I am planning on going to the Festival in Washington NC to look at these boats in person. I have a little outboard I would mount inside the MKIII instead of Transom mounted. I feel that I would use this boat more? Then I start worrying about it being too big for single handling. Too much work for a quick trip to the lake for an afternoon sail. Gah!!! The continuous circle that the inexperienced get stuck in. Any advice would be appreciated. Peace and Respect Kelly
  8. Thank you for the pictures, It is soooo helpful to someone contemplating a build. Fine looking job of it too! Peace and Courage Kelly
  9. Thanks! Liking these boats more and more. What does a CS17 or 20 feel like with ballast? Does it just give you more stability and more confidence to sail in higher winds? Does it make the boat slower to react to input? My only sailing experience has been on 8ft pram with same style sail as on the CoreSounds. Thank you. Peace and Respect Kelly
  10. How do the CS17's sail different compared to single masted sailboats? How do they compare to other sailboats in general? Very keen to try one of these out! Hard to get people to make statements for fear they will step on toes. So difficult to get information a novice can use. Thanks Peace and Respect Kelly
  11. I am new to sailing and have just discovered these boats and this designer and you guys. I am going to the boat show in Washington NC and I would dearly love to see in person the CD17 and MKIII. I am finishing up a fishing skiff now. Then J Welsford Houdini. When that build is finished I want/need gotta have the MKIII. Peace and Respect Kelly
