  1. Steve, I sold her to a gentleman in Texas. He lives on a lake and sails her much more than I ever did. She found a great home.
  2. Dave, great hearing from you. Yes, but we're currently chartering others' boats these days. We plan to retire in a couple of years and will buy a boat and start doing some more serious cruising up/down the Atlantic ICW. Can't wait! My Lapwing project was a labor of love and gave me many wonderful memories. Fair winds to you and yours.
  3. Matter of fact, here's Kevin's pretty CS17 next to my old Lapwing.
  4. I've sailed on this boat many times and she's a nice one. I can testify to how well she has been maintained and improved over the years. If you're thinking about a CS17 build, consider picking up this well-built TX200 veteran instead. John
  5. Yes it's after Labor Day, but don't put your boat up quite yet. The first weekend of October will see a pretty big gathering of small sailboats on Lake Eufaula, a huge lake in Easter Oklahoma. This is the second annual Sail Okalhoma Boating Festival and it will be held from Oct 4 - Oct 8. Last year, there were at least 4 B&B boats in attendance. Graham attended last year and can attest to how much fun the event is. Sure, there's lots of boating and eating and music, but it's a great venue for instruction and skill sessions too. This year, we have an international cadre of boat designers that will be in attendance, including David Nichols, Jim Michalak and Mik Storer. Also, Howard Rice will be in attendance and will be leading a sailing skills program. This event is so packed with activities that I can't list it all here, but going here will give you plenty to read: http://groups.yahoo....p/SailOklahoma/ Travis will be there with his Princess and I'll be there with my Two-Paw 8. We'd love to see some other B&B boats there. If anyone has any questions or would like more info on the event, send me a message and we can chat. Also, I've attached a .pdf of the schedule of events. I hope to see you there. John Two-Paw 8, "Maid of Pligh" Guthrie, OK (very near the B&B Capitol of the World) Sail OK Schedule 2012.pdf
  6. Blue Peter has been sold. Thanks for your interest. John
  7. Bumped to the top and price reduced.
  8. We're downsizing and empty nesting and I need to find a new owner for my Lapwing 16. She's a great boat and I hope that she will find a good home. If anyone knows of someone who likes the Lapwing, but who might have been intimidated by this design's somewhat-challenging build, please point them this way. They'll thank you later. The classified ad: http://messing-about...ng-16-for-sale/ I'm only going to offer her here to the B&B community before attempting to sell her elsewhere. Hopefully someone in our little family will want her. Thanks, everyone. John
  9. B&B Lapwing 16 for sale. Built in 2010, this Lapwing has been sailed less than a dozen times and needs a good home. We're downsizing and the boat needs to go. This is only the second Lapwing to be built (hull #5). The boat's construction is well documented and can be viewed here: http://svbluepeter.com/lapwing.htm . Since she was completed, I've added several improvements that can be seen here: http://svbluepeter.c...apwing_mods.htm . The boat comes with a rennovated and upgraded Trailex trailer, as-new Suzuki 2.5 motor (15 +- total hours), B&B mainsail and mizzen, custom mizzen staysail and numerous accessories (bimini, cockpit tent, sail covers, mast crutches, anchors, rode, depthsounder, lines, etc.) This is a pretty boat that has appeared in Wooden Boat, Small Craft Advisor and Duckworks magazines. She is well known and liked by many. She most certainly turns heads at boat ramps. The price for this boat is $8,500 or best offer. The boat is in Edmond, OK and is sold as is, where is. If collecting her would require a long drive for you, I may be able to help some--let's talk about it. Let me know if you'd like more information or if you have any questions. Thanks John Turpin john@teamturpin.org www.svbluepeter.com
  10. Kevin Nicolin sailed his CS17, Jubilee, solo in this year's Texas 200. And, he did it under very challenging conditions. I'll send you his email address via a personal message. He will be able to give you some good advice on this topic.
  11. On Travis' P22, he put a SS band (looks like a hose clamp) around the mast and over the "foot" of the padeye. Looks very strong there.
  12. I need to work out a new way to do this. Standing on that tiny Lapwing foredeck, way up on that trailer, pulling that tall mainmast out on a windy day is one of my least favorite things to do. I've yet to have a disaster, but each time it seems to get closer.
