  1. Chick, Sent you a PM regarding the Spindrift. Thanks Mike
  2. Chick, I'm interested. When I first met you and the original Summer Breeze back in Havelock I mentioned that my co-worker and I were thinking about building a Spindrift for her as 'practice' for my CS20mkII. Well all the excitement about the new M-mkIII's have left me a bit breatless and we never got started on her Spindrift. This seems like the perfect solution. I'll talk with Amanda in the morning and get back with you sometime tomorrow. I would send a PM, but I haven't quite figured that out. Sorry to hear about your duel with the saw, but don't sweat the loss of a piece of finger on your non dominate hand. I've been missing the last two joints on three of my left hand fingers for the last 63 years or so and it's really no big deal. Mike
  3. Chick, You have a lot more miles under your belt than I so I trust your judgement. Is that trailer good for a trip to the coast, say Charleston, SC?
  4. Chick, Do those 'stuff boxes' on the seat backs have drain holes? I'm wondering if they would hold water in the event of some serious rain or a bit of slosh coming in over the side.
  5. Howard, In the one picture it looks like a small cavity on the lead between the holes. Did you fill this with epoxy before assembly or is there a small void between the wood and the lead?
  6. Doug, Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't realize it was a mast problem with Dawn Patrol, which makes a lot of sense given the height of her cabin top. I can see how you won't have that issue with the flush deck. Kind of spooky how you knew I was mostly interested in the 17. Hope to meet you at one of the mess abouts.
  7. Doug, Great job as checkpoint captain in the recent Blackbeard Challenge. After following the adventures of Paul and Alan in their CS20 and Frank and Julie with their CS20MkII in the NC Challenge I was wondering if you though your CS20MkIII, Look Far, would be able to clear the bridges on the Harlow Canal? I read that Dawn Patrol had to unbolt the main tabernacle to gain the necessary clearance. The photos on your blog (that's a great looking boat by the way) seem to show the tabernacle mounted on the deck, which is also raised. So the quick question is how do you feel about your vertical clearance? Especially as it compares to the other CS20s
  8. I wouldn't worry too much about Alan and Paul keeping the lead as Rodger will have to stop and rest sometime. Near as I can tell from the Watertribe Forum and its Facebook page he has been going pretty much non-stop since the start yesterday morning.
  9. Graham, I noticed you mentioned finishing up the kits (plural). Can we hope to see a CS17mk3 as well as the CS 20mk3? I am following Doug's build with great interest, but thinking a slightly smaller boat might be what I really need. Thanks Mike
  10. Wes, Thanks for the video. I've read about how balanced these rigs are and couldn't help but notice that you frequently let go of the tiller when adjusting your sheets. Is the boat really that balanced or do you have some additional tension on the tiller from your tiller taming device that was described in your building blog? I'm getting closer to making a commitment to start a Core Sound build, just need to decide between the 17 and the 20. Your video will help get me moving. Mike
  11. Bad Thumb action. I will be in your area Labor Day weekend and would love to pick up the magazines if you can hold them that long. Also, if she's still there I'd really like to take a peek at the CS20MK2
  12. If you have any stained glass studios or shops in your area you might give them a try. We often have pieces of old lead came from repairs that sit around until someone heads out to the metal scrap yard to cash it in for beer money. Most of it is not pretty, but it is at least as good as tire weights.
