Kudzu

Some resourceful people on  here and I want to tap into your pool of wisdom.  Looks like I am going to be teaching a class in August, building some of my boats. Just realized they also want to build a paddle too.  I use nothing but Greenland Paddles and would love to introduce the class to the GP but time is not there to teach first timers to build a proper GP and I don't want to give them some hacked together GP that doesn't work well.

 

So I am looking for ideas for a paddle we can build in the class rather quickly and will still work well for a beginners. So what have you got?

Going to use this at any displays I do this year. Finished framed that is half skinned and the skin is half finished. Should help show they are built and be an eye catcher.

 

I was quite stunned when my UPS guy backed up to my door. When he backs up I know he has fabric or a really big shipment. I wasn't expecting this till next week. I am doing one last test on the samples I had and will make up my mind if it it needs to be sewn on tight of leave it loose and shrink it. It should be in the store by end of next week.

I thought I had found a perfect fabric but it is not wide enough for the majority of my boats. It's a shame too, it was a beautiful fabric.

 

I am going to be ordering a roll of the canvas looking polyester fabric this week. I will keep looking for a something else more like what I sell now. The only draw back I see to this fabric is you will need to sew it on tight and not shrink it tight. It shrinks really well, but it will stretch back out too. 

 

Once I get some time I will make a quick video to show how to sew it on. 

Long story, but just got word that I may be about to run out of polyester for a while. I have been looking for a while trying to find a mill that can make some for me. But so far, no go.  If you need any polyester I suggest getting in an order, it will not last long with spring coming.
