Joe Anderson
I happened to be shooting a video when a pod of dolphins joined us. My cousin David and I were on a four day trip from Point Judith to Cuttyhunk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2FVfibjJjc I am having trouble getting the link to work not sure how to do it I will try again later

Mike Vacanti
I think this will work: sailing with dolphins
Hirilonde
What a treat! I have been out there many times and never seen them in that area.
Joe Anderson
Thanks Mike. Is it possible to explain how you made the link in layman's language? It was special to have the dolphins that close to the boat. A few were swimming just under and forward of the bow and they were cutting and weaving all around us. David said he felt one hit the boat aft near his feet but I suspect that was just a pressure wave coming off a tail fin that cut a little close. Mike Vacanti
I'm not sure why but I couldn't embed the link when I was logged in using Internet Explorer. I was able to do so with Chrome. I first found your video on youtube and copied the URL. I then typed my post and highlighted the "sailing with dolphins" text. I clicked on the link icon (the icon with a picture of a few links of chain). I pasted the URL in the appropriate field in the dialog box and then clicked OK. That's it. Thanks for posting your video. -Mike
Action Tiger
You think somewhere there's a go pro video of the two of you the dolphins are all watching, amused by how close they got to you? Sometimes when we sit in the "lineup" at our secret surf spot (no, I won't tell you), big groups of sea lions will come check us out. the playful ones are enchanting, while the ones in a hurry usually mean shark... Ken_Potts
Very cool Joe! I was recently sailing along on the Swan River and heard a loud, quick breath just behind me. I turned around expecting to see a dolphin but my gaze was met by a (really big) seal who turned and swam the other direction. I've never seen a seal upriver of the harbor mouth but I am fairly new here, after all. I've not seen dolphins playing in my bow wave but at least now I've offended a seal with my keel. Joe Anderson
I have always found dolphins to be precisely aware of my location. Seals on the other hand. Once one surfaced about 10 feet away from my stationary kayak but looking the other way. When I gently cleared my throat he turned and gave me a Oh Shit where did you come from look, just before he dove.
Action Tiger
Pinnipeds don't have that wicked sonar, I think.

Charlie Jones
Sailing in Lavaca Bay right where it joins Matagorda Bay a few weeks ago. The wind came up after this so we did actually sail
