ttkayaker
After paddling for about 30 minutes I got out and had a cup or so of water in the bottom. Is that normal or should I be looking for the leak? It has three coats of varnish for water proofing.
woodman
Good looking boat...I like to see the frame through the skin.....It might be seeping in where the stitches are, that is the first place to look....And just getting into the kayak brings some water in. off the feet.....3 coats should be good....I brush on 2 coats ,working it into the fabric, and that seems to work... Rich D
I usually get a little water in from drip off the paddle. I doubt if the varnished skin is leaking. You can pour a gallon of water inside and tip the kayak on end to check the stitching at the ends.
labrat
I think that much water could easily be shipped from the paddle in that time. You could do the leak test as suggested just to be sure. Nice job on the build, looks very good.
