Kudzu
Just amazes me, I have been diligently seeking out mills, suppliers, wholesalers, you name it and I can't find another fabric supplier. Got in two very promising looking samples recently only to find out they 'FUZZ' up like crazy when paint is applied. This is just so very frustrating. I think I have one length of the 11 oz left. Stars are not aligning on replacement. 8 oz may be unavailable for a while. I think my supplier buys it from off shore and just has to weight wait on the slow leaky boat to arrive. I have been trying to talk to a mill I found that custom weaves short runs of fabric. They will make me what ever I want in a small enough quantity I can handle. Of course they drag their feet and it is like pulling teeth to get answers back. Never mind I haven't heard pricing yet. Most places never even respond to my inquiries. To say it is frustrating is a GROSS understatement!
bwhip
What happened to your supplier of the 11 oz material?
Kudzu
They are still there. They just have a very large minimum purchases and it wipes out all my cash.
Action Tiger
How many feet would you need to "pre-sell" to make an order worthwhile? I got two kayaks in limbo which between the two is 40 feet. If I live, I may build at least two more... It's worth our while to keep you in cloth, I think.
Kudzu
I will be getting it or something similar back in stock at some point. It is a big seller for me. Plus I have found something very similar that has been calendared, so one side is VERY smooth. I am waiting on a quote on that, might be a bit higher but it would a really nice fabric if the price is not out of sight.

This boat building is getting out of control...
Kudzu
A business acquaintance of mine developed a bluff view subdivision a few years ago just before the market crashed. Here he is sitting on high dollar lots and no one with money is going to buy at that point. Actually a few did, but just a few. I was asking him how bad that had hurt him just developing this and now sales had tanked. His reply was " Unlike a lot of the Realtors and Developers around here, I know how to stay out of financial trouble. Don't spend money you don't have!" Thanks for the offers but this is exactly how I to run my business. I have a lot of feelers out on fabrics. Waiting on a lot of people to get off their butt and get me samples and quotes they have promised. Even talking to one mill that will custom weave fabrics in small quantities. Don't want to jump on the first thing that comes along! Might be able to have a fabric made just for covering kayaks.
