nub
Jeff, I am writing to ask if you have any plans to offer a 13'-14' single chine kayak. I am hoping to build a short, stable boat in the future, a traditional kayak instead of a Mess About. Or, could Mess About be built with a traditional kayak coaming? Thanks! Kudzu
Short answer, no. There is the FreeB 12' , offsets are out there for download. I have thought about it but am just not a fan of shorter boats. As they get shorter they get wider, fatter and slower. There would be virtually no weight savings and you have a slower boat that would be a little harder to build because of the bends in the stringers. Might be a little easier to handle and store? But just doesn't make sense to me. So unless someone changes my mind I don't expect to undertake a shorter boat. That said, I will be releasing a short Canoe design very soon. I designed one for the class I teach up on the Chesapeake and that class fell through. So I will be releasing those plans so I can recoup some of the time I spent on it.
