Dallas
Does the instruction manual for Stonefly include directions for stapling the skin on the stems?
Kudzu
No, that is a new technique. But I am skinning a new boat right now and I will get something written up on that with photos real soon. One of my goals is to update the Assembly manual this winter. There are a several things I want to update and add and that is one of them.
HBREW
Is there anything on this yet? I have seen several references to it but would like to see a a write up and photos if available.
Kudzu
I am just finishing up the revisions to the manual. I need to skin the boat I am working on so I can get photos of the process. It is really straight forward though.
HBREW
From what I read it seems to be. Is the caulk put in between the fabric only or on the wood as well? Thanks
Kudzu
Let me try to outline this. I pull the fabric around one side of the bow/stern and staple it to the side of bow. Then I pull the other side around and staple it just off center. Trim the fabric CLOSE to the center line. Finish the fabric with paint or whatever. Place the rub strip around the bow, caulking underneath, screw in place. Paint should have pretty much sealed the fabric but the caulking is the second line of defense.
