2014 Mess-about

Yes the Messabout will definitely be October 24-26. We had debated that week or the following week, I remembered the following week, so If anyone remembers me telling them the following week, then disregard that and go with 24 - 26.

I am taking suggestions for ways to make your visit as worthwhile as possible. We will have a lot of expertise on hand, if there is any subject relating to building, painting, rigging, sailing or anything else, feel free to take advantage of it. We will put on some workshops if we get enough interest.

Guys-

I have made reservations and provide the detail here in case anyone looking to share a rental car or a two bedroom suite.

I am arriving in New Bern NC on Thursday 10/23 at 12:15 pm, and leaving Mon 10/27 out of New Bern at 12:40pm.

I have reserved a one bedroom suite at Oriental Marina & Inn and am paying $102 for Thurs and Sun, 125$ For Fri and Sat.

the two bedroom/ two bath suites are something like 135 and 160 so we could cut that # in half.

my # is 239-273-2234 if anyone wants to share a two br and /or a rental car.

Sally and I are planning to arrive Chapel Creek Tuesday evening with Skorpa, an EC22. We plan to sail from the dock late Wednesday morning heading for Mouse Harbor. Wednesday evening we will anchor up a secluded creek. Thursday we will start working our way back exploring creeks and bays. Clark Creek, Cedar Creek, Leary Canal exact itinerary depends on wind direction and speed. We plan to return to Chapel Creek midday Friday. If anyone else is bringing their boat down early they would be welcome to join us. We will be covering 20-30 miles a day across some fairly open water.

again - wish I could attend, but not enough time.Saiil Oklahoma was last weekend, and the 1st Port Aransas Plywoodenboat Festival just wraapped up. 92 boats showed up, including two Graham will recognize-

The two in the rear are "origami boats' built from corrugated plastic, by 7th graders. They build a boat apiece, and get to keep them.

Oh- the concrete blocks were there to keep them fromm blowing away!

Hope everyone has a blast there at Graham and Carla's.

Unfortunately I used up all my boat adventure credits with my wife going to the Adirondacks, 1000 Islands, and the MASCF sailing over the summer. But, I am really planning on building a CS20.3 after finishing a few things around the house. I am counting on all you attendees to take and post lot's of pictures of Doug's boat for me, and of Graham's CS17.3. I wish I lived a bit closer.

Take Care,

Steve

It looks like that this weekend's weather will be nice, a bit better than many of the weekends in the past.  Prior commitments excludes me from making it, but its always a blast. And for those of you on a diet, plan accordingly and save your calorie count for Friday night dinner, which I think is part of the gig with some mighty fine Italian food.

Graham and Carla,

Sorry I won't be able to make it to the Messabout this year but I will be finishing off the Amanda #50 "Pyrat" in time for Rhode Island's version of a Messabout.  We have the Archipelago Rally put on by Chris Museler.  It takes place Nov 1 and each year is held on a different body of water around the state (so it won't take you more than an hour to get there).  Anything that floats and has a sail is welcome and it is a great family event.  This year it will be in Col. Willie Cove on Little Narragansett Bay in Westerly.  Watch Hill Boat Yard is generously hosting the event and providing a long dock for the Le Mans start!

Have a great time this weekend.

All, I've created a B and B annual messabout facebook group which I hope will allow us to all share more pictures and stories from this year's event. Below is a link. Or search facebook for B and B Yacht Designs Annual messabout.
