Kudzu
Recently I have had people ask what I thought was a dumb question about where they could buy ____ that I sell. After seeing the same question several times I have to assume that people are not seeing the link to the Kudzu Craft Store. It seems pretty obvious to me but of course I designed the web site menu so I know where it is. The link just says Store, which seems obvious to me but it is becoming apparent it is not so obvious to everyone. I am not going to make major changes to the web site, But I obviously need to change the text , the location of that link or something. Since I am to close to the subject. Give me some input please. http://kudzucraft.com/
msaxton
Well, coming from someone who has designed websites in the past, I don't see an issue, it is located fairly prominent right in the middle of your links ( the middle spot is where they always recommend it goes, right where you have it) on the home page, and you also have several convenience links located within relevant text throughout the site, so I dont see any need for change. just my 2 centavos worth. Kudzu
That is what I am thinking, but, I have too many people question about how to buy something and they came from the contact page on the web site. So I am thinking maybe it is the wording?? I don't know where the folks are from but I am wondering if English is a second language for some of them and maybe STORE doesn't register? Changing the wording would be simple enough.
NY_Rocking_Chairs
Just my two cents worth...the main page is organized with several sections:Welcome to... Tired of lugging... Building a... Oh yeah, they are tough... Perhaps add a section titled "Where to buy" and add an additional link there. Note: I found the store link pretty easily but it is the smallest button in the middle of the row of buttons.
labrat
The trouble with asking someone who designs websites is that they understand websites and know how to use them - you need to ask someone less educated - like me! "Store" doesn't really stand out to me although I can find it because I know it's there. Try changing it to "Online Store" or "Online shop" or "Online Shopping". Or to make it really obvious, if you don't mind it being a lot larger try something like "Buy plans and materials" or "Shop for Plans/Materials" Personally I'd like to see a gallery of builders' boats back on the site too. Kudzu
Good input. I don't think there are many people that can Proof Read what they write. We know what it is supposed to say and we read in what we Meant to write. Same with a web site and that is why I am asking. labrat, I have been thinking on a good phrase to replace Store, I think that is part of the problem. I like something like Online Store or shopping or _____. Also, I like the idea of another Gallery. Just time consuming and I don't have as many photos of boats as you would think. Lots of people place an order and I never hear from them again. But I am going to place that on the list and keep it under consideration. CapecodJohn
"BUY STUFF HERE" or "START SHOPPING HERE" or "GO TO THE STORE" OR "CLICK HERE FOR SHOPPING" I would say (you) get it, or you don't get it. There will always be folks that will ask "WHERE DO I"? Use several different link descriptions in various spots around the web site and give them all a similar color and style. It will eventually sink in when they all lead to a shopping site called Kudzu Craft Store. good luck
Kudzu
I just changed it to ONLINE STORE. That was a quick and simple change. There will always be someone that has trouble with it but maybe this will make it more obvious.
DURRETTD
We're so accustomed to responding to pictures that we tend to ignore words. Maybe you need a picture of a kayak store - whatever that looks like - in addition to your "Online Store" button. Consider making the graphic at the top of the page a link to your store.
