NY_Rocking_Chairs
I was wondering what staples and stapler people prefer for the StoneFly construction? I have a standard T50 staple gun and can get the SS staples for it, but I couldn't find any reference for what size staple (for one layer of fabric, 1/4" seems plenty), but what about around the bow and stern? Is 1/4" enough to hold in WRC until the rub-rails get installed? Do people prefer the electric or pneumatic staplers? I have never owned one so not sure if they fire a wide staple similar to the T50 or what. I would be using the heavier 11 ounce poly, same as I used on the Curlew so not too worried about the fabirc opening up. Thanks.
Deltabravo
I used a t50 stapler and 1/4 in staples. Probably used too many but it seemed to easier to keep the wrinkles at bay with them close together. No problems with it staying put till the rub rail was installed. Kudzu
Stainless or monel staples for sure.I have only used a couple of electrics and they were pretty useless. If you have air Surebonder Pneumatic Stapler is the way to go! I have one and LOVE IT! You can buy them for around $25 and mine has worked flawlessly. As for staple length, I think I used 3/8 just to make sure there deep enough on two layers of fabric. 1/4 would probably work just fine. NY_Rocking_Chairs
Thanks. One of this spring's "home improvement" (ok, shop improvement) projects is to get the air system piped into the basement shop, right now it is only available in the garage. Will look into that pneumatic.
