Hey everyone!

Catch a new episode of Extreme Yachts on Wednesday, November 6th, 2013 at 9:00PM EST/PST on Travel Channel.

We travel the country, working with over-the-top designers and engineers to witness the creation of some of the most incredible and outrageous yachts ever to hit the high seas.

In each episode of Extreme Yachts, we feature three distinct yacht builds from the ground up, including everything from massive mega-yachts to vintage wooden cruisers and everything in between. It’s the ultimate in design, engineering and construction as we get a chance to pull back the curtain on some of the world’s most talented ship builders.

I watched part of the show and they were serious mega yachts. Sadly the show shows how building has become nothing more than stamp out parts and wrap yourself in booties and white suits and drown yourself in resin and chop matt. Sure it showed the infusion system that's better than rolling the glass, but not too creative, at least from my perspective. The true cookie cutter world is in plain view. There are some real creativity going on across the country and the world. But most of this stuff will never be highlighted for the masses. Part of the show was done in Maine, but did not even include a single one of the hands on guys that made Maine the boat building area that it is known for, many places sold to developers which bulldozed their buildings.

I saw one episode last year, I think, and you're right ... it was all production boat building and focused primarily on automation. The episode I saw did include some talk about the woodworkers fitting teak railing.

I wonder what a show like this would do with Graham's massive catamaran project?

From the inception of the design all the way to now is a story that will probably never be told. But it is such a story for the entire industry. The man is a walking genius in his own right. The massive wiring that's now taking place would rival most aircraft carriers too.

One of the problems is probably the time frame to tell such a story. You count the hours when making media, and being there for each step of the build would take millions of dollars. But they could recreate the years of building with images and interviews, and have someone film the launch, and create a pretty good segment out of that.
