I want something that includes discussion on scarfing, lofting, working with epoxy and other good information. I am thinking about "Building Small Boats" by Greg Rossel. Any other suggestions? Miyot Posted November 1, 2013 Report Share Posted November 1, 2013 Greg Rossel's book is excellent and I think is a must have. Good scarfing info and lofting as well. Not much on epoxy though and is aimed at more traditional built craft craft. Gougeon Bros. epoxy info is excellent and can be found online. I bought two books on glassing boats and can't recommend them. (won't mention titles as they were not worth it) Sorry to be of no help. Check for info online. A lot can be found. Welcome- glad to have someone aboard that knows less than me.. I have read, and am reading, two good books on the subject of stitch and glue boat building, the only relevant topic if you are considering a CS17. They are both great and similar in content. I would buy both, in this order: 1. stitch and glue boatbuilding by kulczycki 2. Devlins boat building by devlin Both are available from the wooden boat store Good luck, keep us informed and do it. For epoxy construction (strip, stitch & glue, cold-molding), the gougeon bros. book has a tremendous amount of information. Devlin's stitch & glue is not as encyclopedic as the gougeon book and maybe less overwhelming for a first time builder, but is only for plywood/epoxy construction (like the B&B boats). http://www.amazon.com/Devlins-Boatbuilding-Build-Stitch-Glue/dp/0071579907. Canoecraft, while obviously centered on canoes, give a thorough treatment of epoxy wood strip construction http://www.amazon.com/Canoecraft-Illustrated-Guide-Woodstrip-Construction/dp/1552093425 .
