russell
Thanks to Graham and family for a wonderful time at the messabout! Thanks to all of you folks for the nice comments about my Marissa! I was very hesitant to bring her but you all really gave me the "big head". I've been fighting the Flu for the last week after we left but am recovering well. Time to get back to work on my OB 24. I see a lot of folks comment about kits vs scratch building, I am not a professional woodworker (not even close) The OB 24 is my third boat, I first built a Doablo from Dynamite Payson's "Instant Boats" book just to see if I could do it. I built her from the plans in the book all materials from the Home Depot, she is doing fine. I learned a lot form that experience. I wanted to see if I could build Marissa from scratch this time using marine plywood and found her to be a real challenge but a great experience. Again I learned much in the process. My new challenge for the OB 24 is to do a much better job of fit and finnish. You folks that have built the sail boats have really mastered the fit and finnish part and give me a big challenge to try to accomplish! I really enjoy reading each of your building problems and solutions. Gordy, I enjoyed talking with you and thanks for taking the pictures and posting them of my Marissa. i am looking forward to seeing the pictures Graham took also.
