gfatula
Hi,I have acquired a beautiful 18' E.M. White lapstrake skiff. It has been in storage for 20 years. Used very little. Pristine! One problem. The po managed to rip off the mahogany windshield. I can build the replacement but would like to find a picture or two. I have one of the side windows, some of the hardware and the footprint on the deck. It has a 3 piece windshield with two side windows. The two larger front windows are fixed. There is a center window that opened up. It is a fairly narrow window.Has anyone seen one of these? I can make it up if I have to but would sure like to have a picture to look at. It also has portable folding seats. There is no evidence that there was ever a mahogany bench seat. I may add one. It should have one. Ha! No points of contact or evidence of one being installed. The boat has twin Johnson 40 hp electrics without the electric shift! Whew! I have one running well with a carb rebuild. The other one needed a lower unit gear case and I am working on its carb next. Both keys and all lights, the horn, etc work. it has cable steering and has a small CW wheel mounted in line with the cable on the stbd hull for steering while fishing and sitting in the back. A bimini and rod holders are there . Its trailer looks new. An electric winch and an articulating joint will keep the wheels out of the water. We are anxious to use it next summer. I want to have the windshield replaced by then. I could take to a shop and have someone else do it. I just want the original design. I have never seen a Lyman or anything else with the small opening center windshield pane. Thanks for your help.George

gfatula
A beautiful boat! Thanks for these pictures. Mine is a bit bigger (18') and the windshield was different. If you spread your windshield at its mid point and put a 10" wide forward facing, opening panel in between the two opening panels you have, I think that would be it. I don't think the two front facing windo panels on my boat opened. Just the third middle panel. I like your front seat. I might try to build one similar for mine. I will take some pictures soon and post them. It looks like I will be able to get the two Johnson 40 hp electrics running properly again. The bimini top took a hit when the windshield was knocked off but it will be simple to replace. We are very glad to have one of these beautiful boats. Thanks again, George gfatula@gmail.com
