A sturdy SOF

I saw this photo in the main area of the messing-about forum, and thought that it might be suitable for discussion here. My experience is nil and I wonder what changes in handling would take place with a keel like that.

Here is the fully restored boat, with rub rails. Also note the familiar brass that was used on both the bow and stern.
