Kudzu
Just wanted to pass along one of my clients experience with the new fabric. This is the email and photos he sent me. Used with permission of course. "I just finished a boat with your new poly fabric. It sewed really easy with minimal pull holes. It also shrunk really well. I finished it with oil based paint. The first coat went on well and soaked though. After I applied the second coat, it got the sandpaper texture issue that you experienced. I then lightly (really lightly since its fabric) sanded the surface with 150 grit paper. It knocked down the texture really well. I then put a third coat on. Same sandy texture came out. I then lightly sanded and called it done. I think it looks good. Kind of has a textured look but is smooth to the touch. Its not smooth like a glass boat but it will do." P Doug (WA)
Not all that bad. Gives a canvas look. I wish he had tried a safety razor. Just to see. First plywood cowling I have seen on a boat. I prefer the bent ones best but this would certainly do. Is that one of your boat plans, Jeff? Love the color.
Kudzu
He didn't say which boat it was but that is a Curlew. I see he put the screws in from the bottom on the coaming which is something I have thought about for a while now. I am sure it is awkward as heck but it sure looks good that way.
