mfrankel
Jeff: Thanks for the speedy delivery of the Ravenswood plans. The instruction manual was a big surprise. I am probably going to go with a plywood coaming. I was thinking of using Heatbond to attach the skin to the lower part of the coaming before screwing the top on. What do you think? Kudzu
Never thought of that but I think it might work. I rarely do plywood coamings. but that would free up a hand when putting the screw sin. The only thing I see that might be a problem is the bottom ring by itself it rather flimsy, so while it sounds good, it might be hard to pull the fabric tight and iron it on the ring. Let us know if you try it.
mfrankel
I am going to try it. To deal with the flimsy bottom ring, I intend to lash the bottom ring to the frame. Then, heat bond the skin starting from the lashing points - alternating sides. Should I remove the lashings before screwing the top rings into place? Kudzu
I don't have an answer frankly. But I would probably just clamp it in place instead of lashing but either should work. But I would not leave the lashing. It probably wouldn't be a problem but the coaming 'floats' and it not tied in place. And the lashing is going to leave a bump, so I would remove it for that reason. mfrankel
Thanks, with that settled, I can go out and buy the wood for the strongback.
