cjp1063
Can the polyester cloth be used like fiberglass cloth to patch a crack in a fiberglass boat with epoxy resin?
PAR
What specifically is the polyester cloth? In short, probably, but it depends on the sizing used on the fabric and only the specific brand and model fabric will reveal this.
cjp1063
The 8 oz polyester cloth sold by Jeff... and thanks for answering.
Hirilonde
Considering what a small piece of fiberglass cloth costs and that I don't think you can really find out if Jeff's cloth is compatible, I would not try. I suppose you could try saturating a piece of Jeff's cloth with epoxy then let it cure and see what happens, but I would at least experiment before doing the repair. PAR
Polyester fabrics do stick to epoxy and Xynole cloth used as an abrasion resistant sheathing is polyester. Again, it depends on how the fabric was sized (not a dimensional thing). My understanding is most are either compatible with epoxy or it'll remain in suspension, which is also okay too.
